Moccasin Kill Blue and Red Loop is a 1.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Schenectady, New York that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from March until November.
its a little easy to get turned around but the trails are very well marked and there are many beautiful changes in elevation.
No mud, very dry, mosquitos, well marked. Moderate, hills, roots and rocks. Mushrooms, and moths!
Great trail. Lightly traveled but well maintained. A lot if greenery with some waterway, rock bed views. Many moths flying around. Enjoyed!
The views of the kill were beautiful and a surprising find for a lesser known trail. The red trail is marked differently than the AllTrails recording so beware. Slippery this time of year.
I recommend this trail to anyone looking to get out and find some peace and quiet. The trails are filled with quiet streams and are reasonably well marked. Parking is limited to three cars but you can usually find a spot.
the trail isn't going to wow you but it was a nice easy walk and peaceful. just what i was looking for to eat my lunch listening to the creek. meet a few people with dogs and they were think enough to help me eat the turkey legs i pack. the dogs not the people, lol. at the far end of the red trail the marks and trail disappear which i was fine with. just stay near the red line on alltrails until i pick it up again at the top of the first loop. the was some trail markers leading down to the creek but they stop too.
lots of small elevations changes, not the best for little children. overall great short hike.
We did the blue and red trails. This is a great walk with enough incline to get outside and get your blood pumping. You have to cross the creek a few times and there are a few steep areas that may not be good for young kids. Overall it has dried out a lot with very little mud. The red trail eventually drops off without trail markers and is out and back, so follow the map and turn around to finish the loop. Not crowded, would recommend.
great for the kids, trail in good shape with minimal mud. Note: the part of the red trail that looks like a long tongue out to the right had no markings at all, and on the trailhead map it is shown as an out and back not loop. I'd recommend you stick to the two main loops on the AllTrails map, blue trail was particularly well marked, our kids led the adults.
This is ok as a hiking trail . The parking lot is very small. It has a bridge in the beginning but another water crossing would not be able to be navigated in the spring very wide and rugged. More hilly than I expected. Not complaining but I’m looking for trails locally that my older dog can walk easier.. it’s a beautiful woods area. Just did a small .9 loop on the blue trail.
