Mine Kill Long Path Loop is a 1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Gilboa, New York that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The first part of the loop is heavily trafficked until you turn onto the Long Path over the bridge near the falls. By the time you reach the Old Long Path trail it is very sparsely travelled but it is very well marked with aqua and then white blazes. This area is used for hunting so wear orange and beware in late fall.
Nice easy to moderate hike. Just did a short trail of about a mile and a quarter on the orange trail. The moderate part is just that there’s a couple of hills that may be a little steep for some people.
Fun loop! Greta views of the waterfall above and below. Stay on the path cause we didn’t and took a tumble
I led an ADK group on a hike here on this past Wednesday when no other hikers were here. The parking lot is large enough to accommodate several cars. We did the usual walk down to the overlook and to the base of the falls. Then we headed south on Long Path, deviating from the map on this app. Long Path passes through pretty evergreen forest above Mine Kill Creek and as it turns south Schoharie Creek comes into view. Then we were out in a field under power lines, crossed a grassy road and followed the turquoise markers back into the woods and came to another bridge that passes over another stream and another waterfall identified on Google maps as Serenity Falls which is the falls pictured on AllTrails for the Mine Kill Long Path loop.
nice short walk to the water, but the way back up is boring. at least I got to see some wildlife in the way up.
Short hike with people through Long Trail. Trail connects with the back end of Nickerson Park Campground. Beautiful trail that gives you great views of the creek. Jogged the way back.
Convenient little hike a must do after it rains then the waterfall has a great show for you a little slippery a little rocky and a little muddy and some bugs but not many.
Great little hike! A few mosquitoes here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. Beautiful day! Not crowded at all (was expecting more people here given that it’s Memorial Day).
After several days of very heavy rain the falls were spectacular. I parked at the trailhead and enjoyed the falls overlook. Only then did I start to record my walk down to look up the falls. I walked to the point where the water level was too high to cross. I could see the trail across the water but I couldn’t see any blazes.
Hiked this today, the first part of the loop is heavily trafficked until you turn onto the Long Path over the bridge near the falls. By the time you reach the Old Long Path trail it is very sparsly travelled but it is very well marked with aqua and then white blazes. This area is used for hunting so wear orange and beware in late fall.
Moderate loop that includes Mine Kill Falls and part of the Long Path. From the register followed the aqua blazes down to the bottom of the falls. Turned around and followed the aqua blazes up the hill. Took a right at .7 miles to follow the white blazes on the old long path back to the parking lot. The start has lots of space and people going to swim. The last .5 is lightly used.
