Nice hike in and back. Came upon some moose tracks that were fresh because it had rained hard the night before. They followed the path for about 1/4 of a mile. Soaked up some sun on the rock in front of the lean-to.
Didn't have time to go all the way but enjoyed the first few miles with my small dog. Trails are well marked. Lovely peaceful trail. Once up the first hill it's pretty easy except for a few rocky stream crossings. Hiking sticks help for those worried about slipping.
First out and back trail that a friend of ours showed us, pretty hardcore for first timers! The first part is a pretty STEEP climb but the lake it worth it in the end.
Great hike nice lake to camp on, fishing non existent and beware of leaches when swimming.
Getting to the lake it worth the trip. Generally easy with little elevation change. THE FIRST QUARTER MILE IS ENTIRELY UPHILL and may provide challenging for the elderly or kids.
This is a good loop for the family. There are a few tricky parts (fording a couple of beaver ponds and a stream), but that just makes it more rewarding. The lake itself is very nice with a lean-to and a couple of good camp sites not far from the trail. Check out my blog for a more in depth review and pictures. www.sheehey.blogspot.com
If you like a nice wilderness trail that is relatively long you should try this one.
