Very pretty and nicely marked

The trail was fun, but not entirely open. The entrance was well marked and easy to understand. The trail was very pretty, but felt like it was leading up to bigger grander sights. However half way through the loop is closed off significantly shortening the length of the trail. The trail is extremely well marked at the beginning, but he further it progresses the worse the trail is marked. Overall a fun experience that's sadly cut short early of the best sights.

It's too bad that the gorge trail is partly closed. It's a great view from the high point, you can even see Long Island Sound. Before the water company closed access to the reservoir land you could hike from the gorge all the way to the dam. The dam was a great spot to picnic, fish, hike, etc. My golden retriever and I hiked there a lot, even circumventing the entire reservoir a few times. We also crossed the frozen reservoir and back one winter. Not a good idea by ourselves but we made it. When they were looking for president Bargh of the water company, my mother noticed tire tracks going into the water and an oil slick. I told some workers. Bargh had committed suicide by driving into the water. He was found in 90 feet of water. In the late 60's or so some vandals destroyed the picnic area and shot it up. The company closed all access after that. Very unfortunate for the people who enjoyed the site. Trail head vandalism is not uncommon. I have seen it in Colorado and Washington State where I live now. Hopefully access to the full trail system will be restored.

Dissapointed that it’s not all accessible, but was awesome for a first trail walk. Went early on a weekday and didn’t walk by a single soul. Very nice trail.

Very family friendly. Used this to get the kids interested in hiking. Gurgling river and the occasional waterfall make it interesting

What a wonderful place!! Place here everyday on my commute and decided to stop and explore today. The Mianus River Gorge is unlike anything in the area...old growth forest with hemlocks that are over 300 years old. The preserve was created in late 1953 by local citizens who saw the uniqueness of of the area and wanted to save it for future generations to enjoy. This was also the first land acquisition by the Nature Conservancy and also the first US National Natural History Landmark!! The trails are clearly marked and great for families. The Preserve closes at 5...I wasn't aware of this until a fellow hiker let me know. Highly recommend this hike

Clear markers, pretty trails, lots of birds, clean.

It is an easy trail that is great for most kids (probably 5 and up), just need to be careful on the ledge of the gorge if taking the red trail. Has bathrooms in the parking lot. Mosquitoes can be rough around the area described as an amphibian breeding ground (makes sense since they eat them), just try to walk fast through there or spray yourself before. Saw a tiny snake but not much other wildlife.

Easy hike with some small changes in elevation, but otherwise it's pretty level. I hiked here in October with friends when the leaves were changing. The gorge was awesome- we went off the path a little bit to get a better view! I'd only suggest crossing the river when the water level is low like it was in October.

Great place to go hiking

Surprisingly fun for an "easy" trail. Climbing up roots and rocks and step-stoning over streams gave it the deep woods feel and the views and waterfalls were a bonus. Definitely up for a second trek.

It was this trail that initially got me into hiking. Having hiked in the rocky mountains, italian alps, austrian alps, swiss alps, the adirondack high peaks, and blue ridge mountains since then this trail although a bit less dramatic is none the less a trail of suprises and breathtaking sights.

Great hike. Moderate hike don't miss the waterfall trail. Very dry Bc of drought, however still a site to see and a nice incline to hike. Well marked trail.

This is an easy walk between the woods. There are not open spaces. There's no water and no maps. The entrance closes at 5:00pm

Nice easy out and back. Shaded the entire way. Pretty walk along the river and out to the reservoir. Good for young kids. Probably great in the spring when water is really running.

Depends on how high the water is. Nice walk through the woods but totally different when water is low and looks like a moonscape

Great hike, nice variety of accents and descents. We took the RED trail, a 4 mile loop, that passed a quartz quarry, and a stream. Will definitely go back.

This is a great trail for the a weekend warrior like me. It was relatively flat and secluded. A prefect weekend retreat.

Went on this trail over the 4th of July weekend this year, really enjoyed it, regardless of its ease. I took the red trail, which is maybe a little more challenging than the blue trail. The quartz quarry was a nice extra find.

A good easy hike for kids especially the blue trail.

Really relaxing and easy. Great for beginners.

Decent hike and not too much traffic. Pretty flat and not much of a challenge, but pretty dense forest, so it's a peaceful hike.

Definitely well marked trails and a nice easy stroll. Very nice for families. Wish I could have brought my dog along. Waterfall was nice and the area was mainly flat with little uphills and downhills at times. Overall a nice walk.

I thought it was a great trail. Not too challenging, and some interesting sights, like the quarry, the tiny waterfall and other waterways.

The old quartz and mica quarry gives this preserve an unique point-of-interest that make it stand out above some of the other open spaces in the area. It is a very well-maintained preserve with bathrooms and a water spout at the parking lot. The trails are exceptionally well-marked, making it an accessible and easy stroll.
