This is an easy trail over level terrain. Beavers have been active in this area for many years. As you cross the wooden footbridges over moving water, look around for evidence of felled trees, dams, lodges and even a beaver meadow. There are also three observation points offering great views of the pond and waterfowl viewing, especially during migrations. You will see wildflowers, fern sedges, rushes, and an interesting variety of shrubs. Please note that no dogs are allowed on this trail.

Smooth, easy trail. Strollers with a bit of ground clearance (not umbrella stroller) would have no issue. Popular spot for birders with a couple good spots for viewing the pond.

This is an excellent beginner trail. Well marked, although today there was a lot of mud. Beautiful fall views however.

Well maintained trails however markings are a bit confusing at times. Says 2.8 mile loop ended Up doing 3.7 miles because doubling back.

Great for cross country skiing, very few hills and usually a few deer.

Quaker Pond isn’t fished much, and there are some big bass in it. Hike in, find the little peninsula, and toss a line in. You’ll likely have the pond to yourself.

Nice walk but bugs were bad (since near the pond/swampy area). Lots of it was on a grassy path, a bit more than ankle deep.

Went cross country skiing today. Perfect conditions for the beginner. Easy to miss the turn to get back to the parking lot so pay attention you don’t hop on another trail looking for it. I have missed it before and seen many others do the same.

Nice easy hike with added fun of birds eating from your hand. Trails are well marked. We encountered a few very muddy sections of trail but with the recent rain it wasn't surprising. Most of the times we were able to get by on the edges of the trail. If you have the opportunity stop at the Wild Wings Bird Sanctuary, it's well worth it.

Good nature trail. More grass areas than expected. Will be a good trail for fall foliage. Pond view is nice.

Was nice. There was no sign at head of trail saying no dogs, but 3/4 around we find a sign. What? To late at this point, kept walking. Park rules say dogs on leash allowed. Was very wet when we walked. Update.... PDF on park we fist printed had no notes on No Dogs.. 10/14 printed another PDF for different hike and now noted No Dogs. wish that had been on first PDF.

This is our favorite Mendon Ponds hike. It's a little long for kids but with so much scenery and an opportunity to feed the birds out of your hands (without the crowds of the Bird Song Trail) we are able to get the kids into it. They also love the board walk that if slightly off of the trail. It is quite flat so it's not a difficult trail.
