This trail starts on the Dike trail near the Massena Town Beach then diverts to the lower peninsula trail, a short jaunt through some pleasant woods, eventually leading to an area perfect for observation of migrating birds. The best time of year for this walk is autumn of course, as this area is thick with many species of migrating waterfowl. The usual common species like mallards and Canadian Geese are often seen. However it is not unusual to spot Herons, Redhead ducks or other uncommon species. You will want a pair of decent binoculars and a camera with a good zoom lens.

Nice trail, flat with snow cover, easy to walk. Overcast day 31degrees with a brisk wind at times. Came across others using trail walking with dogs. Happy New Year.
