Very easy trail to get a good view of the lower falls.

Always a great place to visit. Even if it weren't for the beautiful scenery, the trails are always well taken care. The alternate trails along the way are just as good, and sometimes better, than the main ones.

Nice hike on an 80 degree summer day. Lots of scenic overlooks, stairs and wide trails. Great way to reconnect with the planet.

Some parts were muddy but the views definitely made up for it! Doable with dogs and a child. Most stairs are uneven. Will do it again!

Park site lists this trail (Trail 1 gorge trail to Trail 6a footbridge to 6 on east side) as closed but it was entirely usable as of this weekend. No fallen rocks/trees, no trail damage even with rain and light snow that morning. Just some mud. The view from the footbridge is amazing and next to the falls is beautiful but be careful with kiddos here as there is no barrier and the mud is slippery from the mist. This trail is a graveled and maintained trail from the parking lot down stone steps into the canyon with an overlook that puts you directly across from the Lower falls. Portions of the trail onto the top of a natural terrace that juts out into the river. There are beautiful views along the entire trail and you can see the shale walls of the canyon up close. Plenty of solitude for us this weekend as it is still chilly and no entrance fees even at park, but this path is accessible to those just stopping off in cars at each overlook so it could get crowded

Falls are amazing and worth the stop. I recommend a picnic lunch in one of the quiet parks then hit a few of the walks. The cons of this state park are it's super crowded and some trails are beat up and could use maintenance. Besides some of the longer walks it's really more for kids and tourists.
