This whole area is absolutely beautiful. There are tons of trails to wander around on, really nice camping all over, and Long Pond is a great place to stop for lunch. Further down Flugertown Rd, after it turns to dirt, you can pull your car right up into a few campsites. The trails are easy enough for pretty much anyone to hike there.
Two things to be aware of:
One--A lot of these trails are snowmobile trails, so be careful and respectful in the winter time.
And two--A good section of this hike is actually on Flugertown Rd. So don't get confused when you come out of the woods and the trail turns to pavement. This is not a problem really, because it is a beautiful back road through the countryside with great views along the road, one or two wild apple trees, and it makes the last part of your walk very easy so you can cool down.
One of my favorite easy day hikes in the catskills.
