HikingGreat!

Beautiful hike through the woods and around the lake. Very well marked and only a few other hikers (it was a weekday). As others have mentioned, be aware that the blazes change color depending on which side of the lake you're on. The trail to Lake Ann is purple blazed and takes an interestingly twisty path through the woods. Most importantly, no loose dogs!

I just read a post from someone who came across a dog...."I did come across a loose dog. It scared the crap out of me. He was behind some branches, I thought it was a bear. He stayed away from me but did occasionally growl as we were trying to get out of each other’s way." SO DID I and it scared me to death. I am not sure if it is the same one but he was very large and aggressive. What's with the dog?

Very good, not good for bikes. Brought bikes chained them to a tree and walked it. Beautiful walk through the woods.

Nice walking trail through the woods along lake Bonita then veer off to lake Ann which is hidden find the little bridge. Not much to see there but lovely walk. Brought bikes but this path I don’t recommend unless you’re a serious mountain biker

The parking lot was full, lots of people in groups, couples walking their dogs, one guy running. I did come across a loose dog. It scared the crap out of me. He was behind some branches, I thought it was a bear. He stayed away from me but did occasionally growl as we were trying to get out of each other’s way. The trail is very well marked. If you’re doing the course from the all trails, you will follow the white marker to the green to do the Lake Bonita Loop, if you’re also doing the the trail to Lake Ann, it’s marked purple. There’s lots of roots & rocks. You will also see a lot of places you can get off the trail to get pictures or views of the lake. It was mostly sunny, 85 no bugs. I did spray myself pretty good before heading in. Most of the trail is shaded, a few open spots. This is definitely a fun trail, lots and lots of twist & turns and ups & downs. It’s an easy walk/hike with a pretty good workout. The trail to Lake Ann has a very small pond, you have to look for the wooded dock to get to it. The Boy Scouts are in the process of building a lean-to. This trail is kid & dog friendly. Good for walking/biking and running.

This was a great hike with some muddy spots. The trails are well marked. There was plenty of room to move over while social distancing. There is some blown down areas, but the trails are pretty clear. Easy for the whole family and dogs. There are a few areas with picnic tables. There is a lean-to and picnic table at Lake Ann, but I don't think the lean-to is meant to be used, as there is a sign. There is ample parking in the lot.

Recommended for all levels as there’s much to see especially during Autumn. There’s a few different trail blaze colors in play here but either way you’ll make your way around Lake Bonita. Trail to Lake Ann is purple blaze off Lake Bonita trail (in area of bench and picnic table overlooking Bonita). Lake Ann trail eventually borders NYSDOC Mt McGregor property. Not sure if there is a trail (bushwhacking perhaps) to get around Lk Ann. The entire trail is enrapturing. I felt like a kid exploring unchartered territory. Areas of the forest were cut from the set of Avatar. Truly amazing day!!

First to Review

I hiked this yesterday, the trails are still a little muddy in places, and it's kind of disheartening to see that Mt bikers have been making their own tracks around them. Other than that the trails are well marked and very easy to follow.
