Too much old road apart of the path and as well a lot of bike parts of the trail. This is definitely not a hard trail imho. It's more long and moderate. Parts are really beautiful and diverse however the trail feels very boring for long parts as it's not really challenging or interesting...

Just completed this route with a few detours. The first few miles are a long winding climb on a crushed stone access road, without much to look at. Lake Awosting is beautiful and is worth a visit. The northern leg of this route consists of the Smiley Carriageway and the Stony Kill Carriage Road, which right now is narrow, rocky and a little washed out. Stony Kill falls was a highlight of the trip and a good spot for a photo. As others have noted, the Wolfjaw Connector, which is the eastern leg of the route is mostly unmarked. I would strongly recommend hiking completely around the lake and returning on the same Awosting Reserve Loop that you hike in. Otherewise a map/GPS is required for that section.

this was a particularly nice trail overall. absolutely spectacular views of the lake it was a beautiful morning when I took the hike I went up and then to the left kind of doing the loop in reverse order, it had rained the days before and so the trail leading to the falls was more like a small stream than a trail, but my dog loved it. falls were spectacular as expected. I can concur that there is a part of the loop trail that is not well marked and does have some difficulty in staying on it, but if you use the app with mapping it's not that hard to follow. overall easily a five-star rating and just a great day spent outside

taking the trail to the lake with a little strenuous but it was beautiful. The lake is gorgeous very clean and a great swim. Was very warm and a nice spot to stop and have a snack for lunch. We followed the trail around the lake but we missed the turn to go to the falls because of road work. We continued to follow the trail but then the trail goes through a pathway that I guess has been let go was completely overgrown and impossible to pass through. we were full of ticks and had to go through bushes and swamps to find the trail again to continue back down to the parking lot. This map needs to be updated. the whole time we were in forest it showed us that we were still on the trail but that is absolutely not correct I would not advise anyone just follow the loop. From the lake I would turn around and go back the way you came

This is not my favorite trail. It’s not really in the woods and there isn’t much sun cover. Stony kill falls is beautiful and so is the lake. The wolf jaw connection is poorly marked to enter and then once you’re in it’s poorly marked to follow. Without gps and the map I would not have known what to follow. But hey, there’s a lot to appreciate about the lake. It’s warm (relatively) and you can catch the occasional nudist. The stony kill falls were the highlight of the hike.

Long but flat woods road most of the way up. Didn't go further up than Lake Awosting, but swung by Rainbow Falls. Views from the top are great.

I think it's funny people have rated this a moderate trail, seems a little bit more than that. ultimately, it was wonderful but based on the time of year very buggy and humid. The refreshing views made it a peaceful escape.

Really simple trail but the waterfall is pretty. You're not supposed to swim but a few people do it anyway and I'd personally recommend it.

Quite a simple hike, but the waterfall is a nice experience. Unfortunately you cannot swim in the water but you can sit on the rocks and enjoy a nice snack. We also did the hike to the lake. It is not worth it unless you get there early. The beach is very small and there is no food allowed.

Did a winter hike up to the lake and back. A steady climb to the lake. Until you get about 3/4 to the lake, uninteresting wide access road. Then it turns into a trail with rock walls, a stream and mountain laurel Might be ok for a mt bike ride to the lake.. in the summer. Otherwise, I won't take that route again.

some nice overlooks, but mostly walking through densely wooded areas. not sure I would do it again...I love a nice long hike, but I need some amazing views to make it worth it. these views on these trail were nice, but nothing amazing.
