Great!

It’s an easy trail not moderate. Very little elevation gain and wide nearly flat path for the most part. While there are no spectacular view points the trail is beautiful. It goes through the giant pine and spruce trees and it smells like Christmas all the way. Beautiful river with little water falls and streams will be on your way.

Great hike. Slippery in places especially bridges. A little overgrown around the pond.

The trail is beautiful and very quiet. Great for anyone who wants get away from other crowded trails. Great for dogs during hot days, plenty of streams. Important note: the above map shows the short loop. There is a long loop which ends close to the Main Street. If you follow the long loop it’s only about 0.5 more than the above. If you pass an old cemetery walk toward main road, turn right and you can either follow the street back to the parking or walk the path in the woods. I got lost here but got directions from the campers. Otherwise great trail!

Great easy-moderate trail. My boyfriend’s ankles and shins was very sore from a hike the day before (we went a little too intense on our first day), and he wanted to go on one that wasn’t too rocky to save his muscles. We decided to go on this one after reading a review here that it’s good for hikers who are just getting back into it. Totally agree!! Nice views, too.

Great trail has a little of everything starting with a beech and hickory forest continuing into a vast pine forest with soft, needle-cushioned trail. Lots of little streams and bridges with a little lake at one end of the loop. First car in the lot at 945am on a Sunday morning, and didn’t run into other hikers till we were back at the parking lot. Hiked with two dogs and it was a blast! Go!

Really nice walk in the forest. Easy. Stream crossing in and out the whole way. Very nice pond at the end.

Beautiful! Hiked at about 8:30 am after some rain the night before. 40 minutes, clockwise, to the pond, then attempting to continue clock wise (northbound) after the pond was futile as the trail was a bit overgrown, and didn't want to risk another Laportea Canadensis incident (as I had thirty minutes back or so on the trail). Otherwise, beautiful and calm.

Lovely hike through the woods. I’m a hiker but out of shape hiker so this was perfectly on the easier side of moderate. Some inclines but not too steep and plenty of flat portions. A couple of muddy spots and downed trees but nothing too bad. A shady, easy to follow, streams alongside, and well maintained trail. It took me just under an hour to reach the lean-to and lake. I went on a Tuesday afternoon and only saw two other small groups.

Easy, beautiful forest trail. Clocked it closer to 4 miles, had no problem doing it with my 4 and 8 year olds. One part toward the end got very narrow and a bit overgrown, but it didn’t last long. Muddy parts after heavy rains. Lots of canopy. Very lightly populated- we only encountered 4 or 5 groups over 3+ hours.

My wife and I are amateur hikers. We really enjoyed this easy trail. The forest is very green, the path is generally 3-4' wide and the steepest parts were not that steep. Where there was water on the trail it was more prone to bugs - silly us forget the repellent. Although there was a spotty rain we never felt it - plenty of canopy. At the top of the trail is Beaver Pond. The path around the pond is a narrow deer trail - I got some scratches on my legs from the sticker branches. On the return, we took the first left. That takes you out to the road and you have to either walk the street to get back to the parking or take a short path. Again - most of that is a 1' deer trail. Wish we'd walked the road. Overall, very enjoyable with lots of views of the stream, little waterfalls, and a beautiful forest. We'd hike it again.

Pretty lovely little trail with a bunch of crossings over a creek. Down by the pond the trail is pretty narrow where the brush is a bit overgrown - that being said our toddler managed totally fine. We’ll be back!

Beautiful trail through the woods with excellent shade cover. The lake was very pretty and the trail was well maintained and easy to follow until the very end where we got a little confused and accidentally took a path that brought us out just a tad bit town the road.
