Karner Barrens Red and Blue Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Albany, New York that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October.

The trail was closed ! We bummed out because we already done the green trails and we looking forward doing the other trails!

Hiking

I love the pine bush, but this hike travels along the highway far too much to be enjoyable. It’s great that this area is being preserved for the benefit of all the species that live in this unique habitat, but I wouldn’t walk here more than once.

First to Review

Nice walk through the pine bush, however the trails stay near major roads (at one point you are walking along the NYS thruway). My family and I enjoy hiking to get away and enjoy nature- you will not escape the road noise along this trail.
