We did the loop starting with the north trail— pretty easy except for one section that was a little steep. We went on a cloudy misty morning and so the visibility from the tower was nil, but it was a nice hike nonetheless. Our soon-to-be six year old loved spotting all the newts along the way- we must have seen like 30!

It's a great quick climb and the trails are well maintained. There's also a nice launch close too where you can see the tower

Fantastic campsite at Indian Lake couldn’t find the one at the first lake. Easy trail, flat, buggy, hung out and had a beer with a beaver!

Easy short hike. Under 90 minutes round trip including break at fire tower. Views were excellent, 360 degrees (weather dependent). Muddy and buggy, but typical for ADK.

HikingGreat!

View from the top was lacking, unless you went up the fire tower. Which had a line of people waiting for their turn.

Hiked the entire loop in about an hour and a half including wait time for the tower. The longer trail had a small section that is quite muddy where you can lose the trail easy if you're not paying attention to the markers. Otherwise a great hike.

Hot and muggy but hike was fun. Short, just enough challenge to get your HR up and you are there. We went up the steep way and finished the loop. Took me less than an hour including wait time to go up the tower and then few minutes on the tower. No running water for dogs except at the beginning of the north end trail, follow signs to Indian lake. So carry extra water for your pupper. There is a bridge passing over the stream. We stopped there on our way back. Usual bugs you find in the woods. Great fun trail. Good for pups and kids. we didn't see any dogs but passed a few kids. Views from the tower were amazing. Highly recommend it.

Great trial. Awesome views from the fire tower. SO MANY horse flies. Even with repeated bug spray they were relentless.

Great trail for a hot day. Lots of shade. GREAT for the pup! Lots to explore and use dog senses. Bring lots of water. It was rocky and lots of roots so bring poles if you are a bit unsteady. Manageable elevation. Fire tower was closed due to covid but people still climbed it. I recommend this trail!

Great trail for beginners! Pet friendly and kid friendly. It is a little rocky and has some roots that someone could trip over but overall an easy hike.

Great Hike!!!! Not that many bugs at all. We were lucky enough to go on a cooler day so I imagine that helped. We went up the steep side.... worth every step once you get to the top. The Fire Tower views were amazing :) would definitely recommend this hike!

my boyfriend and I did this hike today. we opted to hike up the shorter trail (approx 0.75 mi one way) which was not very difficult, well marked, and not a ton of people. On the way back down chose to go the longer route (roughly 1.25 mi) which was pretty muddy in spots, and surprisingly had a couple of areas that were more steep than the shorter trail. Much less buggy than other towers weve done in the past couple weeks which was a nice change and the views from the top of the tower we were every step!

Honestly, this is one of my least favorite hikes. The views are okay, but I wouldn’t say they’re worth the drive if it would be over an hour’s travel. For beginners looking for an easy hike, though this would be the one.
