Nie packed trail. We did the loop up the yellow trail and down the red. Only saw two groups of people, one going up and only coming down. we had the whole summit to ourselves.
Beautiful trail! Hiked Sunday, 1/31 up the north trail and down the east. Trail is in great condition except for a few post holes approaching the summit from the north trail. Snowshoes are necessary as there is more than 8 inches of snow. Great views from tower.
We did this as a loop. The trail was well packed and travelled up the East trail, less well packed (and some obvious big postholes down the longer North trail. Snowshoes are definitely needed, spikes at the minimum. Nice views through the trees but in any other season you’d have to climb the tower for any real views.
Snow shoes a must. Main parking lot was closed so had to park in the little space to the side. Fire tower stairs had ice. Overall, beautiful easy hike.
Trail has fresh powder. Needed snowshoes for the back loop. Couple post holes. Overall nice time. Road in was a little rough on account of the fresh snow not plowed yet.
Super cute and easy family hike. Took my 5 year old daughter and boyfriend. Little snow flurries on the way up. There was a few inches of snow on the mountain and some running water the first half mile up. The last three flights of stairs up the fire tower are a bit icy. We used microspikes the whole way up the trail. 23 degrees out so winter layers were needed. Very cloudy but still had a nice view. :)
beautiful day. the longer way was a bit slippery but we did ok without micro spikes
Very easy to find parking lot. The .8 mile trail was a very steady inclined trail, I did that up to the firetower in 20 minutes, coming down I did the 1.2 mile trail. The 1.2 mile was more steep, muddy, and had a lot of rocks. This is one of the easiest fire towers, experienced hikers you will be dissappointed. This is too quick and too easy. Plan to do another trail or firetower the same day.
