The hike as described here is to Mackenzie Pond Road NOT Mackenzie Pond. To get to the pond you have to make a very sharp right around 3.6 miles in and then go 1/4 mile - this is unmarked.

Though described as easy the mud and slippery rocks made it pretty unpleasant at times.

First, this is NOT near Bloomingdale. I need to find out how to get the description changed...Anyway, it is on the East side of McKenzie Pond Road about 1.25 miles from Saranac Lake (about 10 miles from Bloomingdale). My favorite trail run around. Short, at times rooty, and sometimes wet. But, its close by and I've run this more than any other trail. Lots of short ups and downs. Not really a hike, but a nice long walk in the woods. At 1.75 mile or so, you want to make sure you turn left towards McKenzie Pond. If you go straight, you will walk another 5 miles to Lake Placid over the saddle. Love the trail running here. XC skiing is good too, but not for beginners. Too many hills for that. Go back on the Kiwassa trails off 86 right as you are getting into Saranac Lake for that. It is a law (or should be) that when you get to McKenzie pond, you have to take a picture and Post it on Facebook. I do, just in case it ever becomes a law...

Great flat hike to a scenic pond. Good for an afternoon walk in the summer or ski in the winter.
