Very good trail. We did 3.8 miles due to the parking lot being closed at the trail head. Lots of small rocks all over the place which was good to keep you on your toes and we ventured onto a little island that was not on the map was there half way through. Well worth it. There’s a 100ft wooden walkway to it. Great for young toddlers. If you bring your car be careful with Parks Department Enforcement who gave everyone parking tickets outside the closed lot. Although I highly recommend this trail

It's more like a walk than a hike but very good option for young kids. Lots of side areas / paths for them to "explore" off the main trail. Recommended.

very relaxed trail. Mud at times.

My 11-year-old-son and I enjoyed our walk along the Hunter Island Trail. The path was easy, clear and well maintained. Orchard Beach was very crowded, but the trail was quiet and calming. Beautiful views along the water. We almost forgot we were still in the Bronx! We will definitely return for another walk during the Fall months, if not sooner.

Great hike in the NYC backyard. Not sure I'd recommend it for a Summer weekend hike, but if you are looking for a great Spring or Fall hike this is a must. The backend of the hike is along the water and at low tide you have a few "interesting" options to get yourself in some fun trouble.
