It was awesome! the views are amazing with the fall colors at this time. It was just the right temperature at the time we hiked which is 11am. We did the white trail, took us 4 hours total, but we did make multiple stops. I notice all ages from kids to a more mature age. In all, fantastic trail, will definitely recommend to friends.

Easy, low investment, relaxing, but still with a good payoff of a view

Nice views along the way. This trail is great because it can be done in full, or can be broken up into a few separate hikes. There is a stretch around Little Tor that is flat for about 2-3 miles or so.

Great trail, didn’t see anybody my way up. Didn’t have time to hit both Low and Hi Tor, but it was a very demanding hike nonetheless. Brought my dog along with me, check yourself and any companions you bring as often as possible, there is a lot of high grass and ticks. The rocky hills will make you want to take breaks anyway lol

HikingClosed

West part of the trail is closed (COVID-19): between rt. 45 (no parking Gurnee County Park) and rt. 33 (South Mountain Park also closed). Parking is available on the side of rt. 33. First couple of miles are meh, wide dirt road, you can see it’s heavily used path. Past Little Tor gets better. High Tor has nice views. I followed ‘unmarked’ trail past High Tor - well, unmarked=yes, trail=no (nowhere to be found). Just recommendation - it’s not worth it. Whole trail seems like quite heavily trafficked. Probably gets busy on weekends.

Running
First to Review

I really enjoyed this trail although the "feel like" weather was 97 degrees. The path is easy to follow. I only traversed the green path. However, the ease of the path stops there. The path is extremely difficult for runners unless you are just that good at trail running. Extreme caution must be used when running the southern section of the trail (easily identified as the beginning or the section of the trail prior to crossing the street). I felt really safe. I did not see any campsites for as I had a difficult time identifying the trail and did not want to chance running down a cliff (even slowly). I will attempt to locate the remaining miles during the next run. Overall, this was a great experience! Aesthetically, there were some beautiful locations, but probably not as beautiful and Rockefeller State Park or Sprain Ridge. Nonetheless, this can be described as fun running times!
