Getting There

Bring your binoculars and watch closely for birds, amphibians, and little animals as you circle this remarkable preserve. From the trailhead, a well-defined path is followed through woodland displaying a variety of plants and trees. The wooded area eventually gives way to wetlands and a small lake. Here the path becomes a boardwalk round the lake.

Parking at head of the trail

located on the border of the City of Schenectady and the Town of Rotterdam, located on West Campbell Road (Route 337) just off exit 2a of Interstate I-890

This is a great trail if you just want a super easy nature walk. No inclines or difficulty or any kind. Today was really hot so I didn't want to take the dog anywhere difficult or long so this really worked out.

We enjoyed this trail — lots of beautiful wild flowers, greenery and swampy/marshland to view. Well maintained flat trail, although a couple sections were extra muddy. Wooden bridges throughout (some holes so watch ur step!). Great evening walk.

it was a nice flat trail to walk with the family. very easy to navigate until the last 1/2 mile or so. Just after the last bridge, we had to work together walking on trees in the water in order to get to dry path on the other side. Not without our feet getting wet with swampy water. Other than that it was nice.

very nice but bring rain boots unless you want to traverse a makeshift log obstacle course to keep your shoes dry-ish.

Trail was wide And aesthetically pleasing. No major issues except for a few pieces of wood missing from bridges and some muddy spots. Otherwise a nice short loop to do with you, your family, or your favorite canine.

Pretty hike, dog loved it. Lots of car noises and at points you're practically in back yards, but overall a nice hike.

Very simple short loop, great for kids. A few muddy spots but nothing terrible. On the day we walked there was a flooded section that we couldn’t pass but other than that it was fine.

This is a great walk in the forest. I wouldn’t call this quite a hike but there is a little bit of elevation change to make it feel like it has a bit more variety. Wide, open trails with a little bit of mud. I would recommend boots. There’s a lot of cool boardwalk style paths through the marshy areas. Enjoyable and peaceful, we did the long trail twice for a longer walk. Good for kids and dogs.
