Gorge and South Rim Loop is a 2.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Moravia, New York that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Gorge Trail is closed for the season due to damage
We took the south rim all the way to the dam and got on the north trail and took that back. Now, if you look at the maps that the park publishes online it has a symbol for a dam but then doesn’t put the dam Symbol on the map at all. So where is the dam u ask... it’s all the way at the end of the road- the cul-de-sack. Then you walk over the dam and take the north rim trail back. From the north rim, you can see the 3 waterfalls. You don’t see squat on the south rim. The gorge trail is closed. Some reviews said that or was closed only between bridges 7 and 8. That’s not the case. You can’t get on the gorge trail at all.
Gorge Trail is closed for 2020 season. We took the south rim trail out and back. Not much to see on this trail and we couldn't loop to the north rim trail. Swimming open for people, but not for dogs. Save your $7 if you're looking for a place to hike and swim with your pup!
The gorge trail was closed. But we took the south rim all the way to the dam, got on the North Rim and was able to see 3 waterfalls. 10/10
We tried to take the south rim to the gorge trail, but it was closed.
Much higher of an incline than I anticipated. rained on and off so muddy in areas and slippery. Gorge trail was closed so you couldn't see the waterfalls very good but it wasn't a terrible experience.
Very beautiful trail (Gorge Trail) that winds up the gorge to a small damn. The last part of the trail past Bridge 7 is the exceptional part of the trail, while the part before that is a good hike along the creek. When the water is up, this must be a phenomenal place. The Cow Shed at the beginning of the trail head in the park is beautiful as well. Great waterfall with an impressive overhang that makes for a spectacular picture. Took the South Rim trail back, hiked 3.44 miles in total. Stopped for lunch at Pinnacle Lookout...go around the stone wall to sit on the pinnacle itself, and you can hear the falls all around you as you enjoy lunch. Nothing strenuous, family friendly, and lots to see. Great hike!
lower, gorge trail had a section closed, so we went on the north rim trail and didn't get very good views of the water. trail is well maintained.
Despite having to stop at bridge 7 beautiful hike. I would rate it as a Easy.
This hike is absolutely gorgeous!!! Soooo peaceful and beautiful. Similar to Buttermilk Falls. The trail beyond the 7th bridge is closed but it’s still a really great hike till that 7th bridge. I highly recommend!!!
