Well marked, heavy crust on snow with fresh powder on top. Definitely needed snow shows to keep from breaking through. Saw a good sized woodpecker and signs of a past brush fire along the shore of the first pond. Light snow, great day in the woods.

HikingGreat!

Great little hike! We walked up the main trail which is like a road and then about a mile up the trail is on the right. There is a lot to see all along the course of the hike and it ends at a great tittle pond! Easy hike!

HikingGreat!

What a nice trail. The first part of the trail runs along a dirt road (but there is no traffic) following a nice creek. Its nice for walking together. Arriving at Alder Pond the trail is in the woods, and is a typical ADK trail for the last 1/2 mile, somewhat rocky, and rootty but easy. Goose Pound is just lovely.

Lots of big puddles on the trail but easy to walk around. Easy trail to do with 2yr and 5yr-old. The toddler rode in the pack when she got tired but was able to walk for much of it. Stopped and ate lunch by a small waterfall. No bugs now, lots of beautiful autumn leaves and nice moss. A few people on the trail, but not busy and trail wide enough to step far aside.

Hiked in late June. There were plenty of mosquitos in the pines, but there was very little wind that day. Great hike if looking for something easy

Bugs

Great hike for kids and dogs. You can drive up almost right up to the goose pond trail, if you have an off road capable vehicle. Looked like some were swimming, wish I had brought a suit. Beautiful serene pond, could spend hours there.

Lovely shaded hike through the woods ending at a beautiful pond. Did this hike with my 83 y.o. father and it was the perfect length and difficulty level. Will definitely do this one again! Really pretty.

8/2 /19. lovely walk along crane pond road with lots of pools and cascades! Goose pond trail was shady and pine needle laden all the way to a gorgeous pond with s nice view of Pharaoh Mnt! Walked along shoreline path with nice tenting sites . Also continued to Crane Pond which was beautiful as well! Be sure to take the high water road to the left or else you’ll be walking through a swamp!

I went with my girlfriend on 05/04/19. The bridge wash washed out but she waded across the creek and I shimmied over the remaining beam. It was a great day. There was a pair of loons on the pond and we saw a female wood duck swimming in and out of the shoreline. Two guys were camped out on the campsite on the point. Nice little pond. We took one of the boats out and fished but didn’t catch anything. We then put the boat back and headed back.
