Lots of people towards the top. The firetower and the cabin are cool to check out. I brought lunch and had a picnic. I ended up waiting out all the people and was able to really enjoy the view. Be prepared it's a long hike.

The trail was so congested with people and I wasn’t able to have time in the tower. Sharing I guess as an adult is a hard task. Super muddy and the trail is easy to follow This trail should be rated as EASY.. 1.5 hrs to complete.

This firetower is on private land, as such, you will not find the usual DEC trail markers on the trees. That said, the very well maintained trail is easy to follow with the occasional red/orange disc with black arrow marking the way. There are numbered interpretive markers along the trail. The trail itself is fairly easy with a variety of terrain underfoot. The tree'd summit, obscures the view until you climb up the tower. SPECTACULAR views can be had starting from about mid-way up. This is an amazing payoff for an easily accessible trail.

This trail is 5.4 miles round trip. This includes hiking up firetower around around its summit. Is not 4.5 as all trails has written. It was a nice hike. Not hard. Lots of loose rocks to trip on. Use poles. They help. No part was very steep. Nice boardwalks and stairs. I’m giving 4 stars only because this mountain is kinda confusing—no trail markers. Random trail signs placed sporadically. It was pretty easy to follow for most part. Trail markers would make inexperienced hikers feel more secure. Especially if solo. Loved it all. Wish I had solo time on top of firetower. But glad it was opened. Thanks.

Trail was well maintained and marked. The view from the fire tower on top was amazing. The only downside is you really need to go up the fire tower for the view so you can’t sit down and still take in the view.

Hiked this trail on 9/21/19, temp was about 78 degrees. Took about 2 hours from the parking to the summit and an hour exactly to get back down. The hike is steep in some places, but nothing too intense. I brought my 8 year old Doberman and she flew through it! Muddy in some places. Bugs weren’t bad at all. THE VIEW IS AMAZING from the firetower. The hike was a bit exhausting but it was more than worth it

Hiked this trail twice in a month. Really well-maintained and not too rocky. You have to climb the fire tower to get a view, but when you do, the view is spectacular!

Was a very nice hike. Some parts are pretty steep but they are varying with less steep bits so plenty of time to catch your breath. Lower parts are a bit muddy but there is a way around most of them. We hiked with a 6 month old in the carrier and we are not in the best physical condotion. The view from the fire tower is great and definitely worth the hike.

The lower half is all mud and the upper half is rock. Other have been doing some work on it, looks like to try and control the water issue a bit.

A good mixture of steep trail followed by flatter sections allows for natural times to catch your breath. Make sure to stop and get a picture with the Rock Man about halfway up! View from the top is an epic 360 degree view allowing you to see the high peaks in the distance BUT only from the top of the fire tower!

We hiked this trail on August 19th with 7 people (a couple of whom are not in great shape). It took us 1:40 to climb and 40 minutes to descend. The hike was reasonable, good tree cover and the bugs were not bad. The view summit itself is not great, but from the top of the fire tower you have a beautiful 360° view of the Adirondacks. The view is definitely worth the hike.

Great trail! Beautiful 360 views at the top of the fire tower. Trail is in really nice condition - no blowdown, planks in good shape. Many thanks to trail maintenance!

Phenomenal views from the fire tower - absolutely worth the hike, which can feel like it drags on for a bit (kids kept joking that they call it Goodnow because you keep thinking, “Good, now we’re about to reach the summit,” only to be repeatedly disappointed). Trail is pretty well maintained, and crews from ESF were working on additional trail maintenance when we were there. Had the summit to ourselves, and there’s plenty of room to sit and enjoy a picnic. Large boulders and trees with roots growing over rocks provide interest for kids along the way. Nice parking lot with ample space.

Well maintained trail. Steeper sections are interspersed with flat or easier grades. No view from the summit itself, but great views from the fire tower.

Perfect hike for us. Not too long, not too steep, but a good workout and the views at the summit are great.

Perfect day on one of my favorite trails. Nice hike for anyone looking for a little bit of a challenge that doesn’t overwhelm. Great views from the tower.

Great hike and awesome views. Took my 6 & 4 year old girls, it was their first trip hiking up a mountain and did a great job. Some iffy spots for the little one but she managed. Can't beat the views. Overall took about 3 hours.
