With health and recreation as its major thrust, Saratoga Spa State Park offers miles of multiuse trails over a wide variety of terrain throughout the park. There are more than 12 miles of trails suitable for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. This guide will help you explore the Saratoga Spa State Park. I've tried to cover all the major baths, pools, trails, and sites within the park. Please check the links attached to this guide to find out more about the mineral bath offerings in the area as well as how to make reservations for the Gideon Hotel. Saratoga Springs is world renowned for its mineral baths and spring water. It's not often you find mineral springs erupting from the ground in Upstate NY.

Take Exit 14 off the Northway (I-87) and follow signs for the park. I don't believe there is a fee for the parking lots throughout the park.

Very pretty & great for just walking or meandering but we came to hike. Poor signage with multiple spurs - confusing. Ongoing construction & noise took away from the experience too.

Really hard to find the actual trail. Once I finally found the trails I wanted, it was time for me to head home. Next time I’ll come and know where the trails are so hopefully it will be better

Hiking

Took part in the Parks 1st Day Hike today. About 50 of us hiked a 2 mile loop starting at the Creekside Classroom. We headed up the new Tallulah Trail to the red trail and followed it around for a while. Half the group went for hot cocoa and a warm wood stove at the 2 mile point, the other half walked another mile and a half around the Wetland Trail. Great day to be out.

Road biking

Nice little bike ride. I had a tough time trying to stay on the actual path. Lots of little side areas and what-not and the paved trail didn't seem well-marked. Take a picture of one of the maps (like the one at the Creekside Env Ed Center) to help with navigation.

Walking

Nice and relaxing paved walk around State Park. Very easy, nothing really exciting though. I like that as long as you stay on the paved path, you aren’t picking ticks off your pup.

Running

Loved running and biking in this park when I lived in Saratoga. Participated in several 5k events that also used the trail. There is a organized recreation section to run thorough and also a more nature section. Was also fun to snowshoe. Miss it very much!

Walking

Walked this one again with my daughter today. The reflecting pool is filled with water and soon will have tons of tadpoles! We walked down the Ferndale Spring trail and had a nice snack at Karista Spring while watching the fishermen catch all the trout they stocked yesterday. Looked like fun! The Creekside Education Center is coming along nicely and will soon be a huge boost to this part of the park.

Snowshoeing

My daughter and I took a snowshoe hike on the Wetlands Overlook trail and some of the Five Mile Trail this morning. This is in the southern section of the park and follows the old Delaware and Hudson Railroad bed past a marshy pond. The only drawback of this route was the proximity to Route 50. From the parking lot at the south entrance to the park to the pond, it was a little noisy. Once we turned away from the pond on the Five Mile Trail, the noise abated considerably.

Walking

Did the "5 Mile Trail" the other day. Super duper easy. Lots of zig zags and switchbacks that almost seem kind of pointless but it is what it is. There is an administration building across from the Hall of Springs that offers free full color maps of all the trails within the Saratoga State Park. Although the trail is marked it can be somewhat confusing at times. Long straight portions with no signage can get a bit confusing. All in all a decent walk for keeping the heart rate up.

great trail for a more leisurely walk rather than a hike, great for dogs given they're kept on leash

Walking

Easy paved trail with enough offshoot trails to make it interesting. Made the loop with a few detours to walk beneath the canopy of tree branches. Would suggest this as a starter, easy walk.
