I have walked this Trail many times from Ballantyne road entrance towards Scottsville. Usually I am walking a dog or two. We don't run into many people but at times have run into bicyclers other dog walkers as well as horseback Riders. it is an easy Trail to walk and is very peaceful. be aware that there are deer ticks on this Trail and if you walk your dogs be sure to check them. We have found more ticks on our dogs when walking this Trail then any other particularly in the fall.

We have section hiked this trail from lake Ontario to the Correctional Facility. We plan on section hiking the rest of the trail to Cuba, NY which will total 90 miles. It follows an old rail road bed so it is flat and level with a nice surface to walk on year round. Frequent road intersections make it easy for point to point hikers. There is fair to good parking at many of the points where the trail crosses a highway.

The GPS directions to the trail head near Black Creek are incorrect. You must enter this section of the trail from Ballantyne Road.

Really beautiful scenery that takes you through the pretty parts of the city. Not a hard hike; mostly flat land.

Did this trail 9/20/12 with wife on our folding bikes. Cool but sunny day with a light wind, just perfect for this trail which is a rail to trail with good tree cover along this section. We did from Rt 20 west of Avon, NY south about 6 miles and return, about 2 hours sightseeing in and 1 hour return. All of this section is thru farmland, no amenities. The trail is described as a "mowed" trail, no asphalt or crushed stone. I do not see this as a problem most of the time but now the walnut trees are dropping their nuts and you cannot avoid them among the grass. We have wide tires but still had a bumpy and hand numbing ride. Still a nice way to spend a day. Several things to see in Avon, Try the restaurant facing the town square.
