We hiked this on Labor Day weekend 2018 - got a little late start since we drove in from Boston, but made it to Pillsbury lake right around dusk. The lean-to was occupied so we went a little further down the lakeshore and found multiple established sites to pick from. The view of the lake was excellent and falling asleep to loon calls can’t be beat!

Moderate difficulty with great views of lakes. Don’t take fishing gear- no fish. You will see lions on all the lakes and moose tracks everywhere.

Summer Time Backpacking:
Insect repellents are must.

Complexity: Easy
Terrain: Muddy and swamps all over the trail. Trail is not maintained properly so if it
rains you might get into some serious mud. Its was really a challenge to walk on
the trail after rain. As its too bushy its hard to find camping spots sometimes
but lean-in come in handy.
Trekking Pole: Not needed ( carry it if you want some support)
Foot Wear: Keens will workout perfect.
Scenic View: You will come across few spots near the lean-in / lakes.
Water Stream: Lakes all the way, take some filtration units you are fine.
Trail Markers: Trail markers are easy to locate.
Parking: Almost parking available for 10 cars.
Permit: Trail head signup, No fees
