The Fox Preserve is 70 acres of protected land in Colonie. This 70-acre property was donated to the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy. The Fox Preserve’s trail system winds through diverse habitats. The trail passes Shaker Creek. Old oak trees provide habitat for migratory birds like the Baltimore oriole, and open fields create ideal nesting areas for eastern bluebirds, the state bird of New York.

Well marked and cleared trail. Combo of open field trails and forest trails. Old trees were beautiful! Lots of mosquitos and black raspberries.

Lots of rain yesterday made some spots slick/muddy today, and lots of little tree stumps on the path make it a little difficult, but nothing too bad. Also: when you get to the circle opening, there are two ways to go...go to the left. It’s not marked but if you take the path straight ahead, it leads to private property

The trails were very nice and there would’ve been some great views if it wasn’t so overgrown. It got a little confusing because sometimes the trail wasn’t clearly defined and there wasn’t a marker in view. Overall, good length trails and good variety of terrain, but way overgrown. Wear long sleeves and long pants.

Brand new trail as of October 2017, well built, but right at the start there is some mud. It was slightly overgrown at the viewpoint and a good weed-wacking would help. Overall though, very nice trail ... I will return in the future.
