Fort Tryon and Ironwood Hill Parks is a 3.7 mile loop trail located near New York City, New York that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and nature trips.
The Inwood Hill section of the hike was my favorite. It is more “hike like” than the Tryon Park sections. I’m a local so I started at the bottom of Tryon Park and made my way up which was the most challenging part. Overall nice trail. The Inwood Hill sections were marked, can’t miss it and even if you do it is pretty easy to find a connecting section. If you’re not a hiker, which I’m not, or you’re trying to get into hiking this is a good trail to start on.
A nice hike for those of us within walking, distance who don’t have cars to get us out of town during the coronavirus. We did it backwards, because the Heather Garden path is now one-way. And we took a longer path in Inwood Hill Park, because we wanted to see a few extra things, like the cool glacial pothole.
I’d recommend going next to the river instead, it’s really pretty
Quick hike from the city but you can hear the traffic in the most dense parts of it too. Light gradient, not very strenuous.
