This hike was the least fun of the Catskill high peaks we have done so far (25). High water nearly ended our quest early on. My wife still doesn't like bushwhacking. The herd path was very inconsistent with recent blowdown and all the fallen leaves. The conglomerate was still pretty awesome.

The hike is mostly moderate. However, do not attempt the hike if you are a beginner. Trail is wet at a number of places and it can slow you down. There are no views. However you can enjoy the eerie quietness of the forest and beautiful vegetation and stream. I did it mainly for covering all catskills 3500 peaks. The canisters are easier to find on the peaks. Word of caution: Most of the trail and forest had no cell signal and faint reception at peaks. Forest is quite thick. Near the peak of Fir as well as Big Indian, you will find herdpaths. Stay with the map to reach the correct peak point.
