Erie Canalway Trail: Warners to Camillus is a 4.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Warners, New York that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
A little dusty today and bugs. Wear big spray. Several people out walking, biking, fishing, etc.
We did the nature trail and then walked next to the canal. It was nothing spectacular but a good easy walk.
To be clear this review is about the Clyde Ohl Fitness Trail, part of this stretch of Erie Canal. This trail is a light to moderately trafficked trail running down the opposite side of Erie Canal from the General Store to the aqueduct. There are ten workout stations that run the one mile length. Each station has a sign which has a set of exercises on each side. They run 1-10 to the aqueduct and 11-20 back to the parking lot. The exercises are relatively easy and the walk/run flat and shaded. Can be buggy, you are next to the Erie Canal after all. Muddy in early spring but dries out quickly.
Beautifully maintained trail that is also perfect for easy level biking. Things to see are the old Erie Canal aqueducts and Sims Store museum which is open on weekends. Recommend starting at trailhead at Eastern part of trail which is on Warners Rd and has easy parking. Canal boat rides available during summer and early Fall months on weekends. They start in area of Sims Store.
