Added the black bear hide out trail in . Was great using crampons for the first time . Trails were well maintained , a little incline . Was nervous about bears
Perfect moderate winter hike. First time using my microspikes and they worked perfectly (was icy or muddy the entire trail). Definitely more of a moderate hike then an easy one. Love the names on all these trails. So many different options. Did the prescribed trail here except skipped the Big T section and cut it short on the Northface. Outside of the initial "outer loop" section, the trails were all interesting mixed terrain trails with lots of little ups and downs. Views mostly blocked by trees, but the Levitate trail opened up a little bit to nice ridge views.
Little skeptical at first walking through the overgrowth but it opens up pretty quick. Gradual incline open path. Walked through lots of spider webs, must have been the first one today on the trail. If you follow this, don’t expect a view from the hillside but there is lots of cool mushrooms and fungi. Easy trail overall, seems longer with no real distinction where you are besides where the trail splits. Would definitely do again in the fall with leaves changing. Didn’t keep track completely but took around 2 hours.
this hike is not really Hilly which is great for a long walk we walked about 7 miles and did the short loops for the family, the fun loop, gold mine, and even a little bit of long path, long path continues onto a road that is supposed to be another trail but it's not I don't think anymore. it was fun and lots of Bridges and bikers but they're nice :)
These are very nice trails. Easy to moderate to bike. Easy to hike. You're not bringing an elementary aged child here to bike. For hiking, yes. Trails are well marked with signs. They are well maintained, and were built by professionals. Even have wooden bridges where things get muddy. There is biking ang hiking on both sides of the road. Parking is easy to find, and trailheads are equally as easy. Views on the drive up the mountain are very pretty, making this a trip worth taking.
