Trailhead is on the north side of Pond Rd, between the intersections of Douglas Rd & Pittsford-Mendon Rd. The parking area is small with a Posted Brown Wooden sign "Horse Trailer Parking" or something similar. This is a nice run with a lot of elevation changes, some of the hills are steep and in wet conditions deep lugged trail shoes are recommended. Pay close attention to the green markers as many have gotten lost on this run/hike.

Awesome trail. Lots of ups and downs. Low traffic. It was a big buggy in the woods but it was a good trade off for the shade. Watch out for some horse droppings along the way lol

I would recommend this trail to anyone looking for a challenge. My boyfriend and I did this trail so he could break in his new shoes. It was challenging at parts but I think it’s a good mix of terrains and elevations.

Really well maintained and marked trail. Lots of nice elevation change throughout. Not a lot of mud or bugs even with rain the day before.

Great trail - woods and open fields are scenic. Bring bug spray. Keep All Trails map running as it is a little confusing staying on green trail with so many off-shoot trails. Trails are great for casual hike to fast paced hike. Both hills and flat areas. I kept a quick pace and finished 5 miles in 1hour and 24 minutes. Loved it - recommend it.

Perfect hike for beginners or people looking to improve fitness as this path loops and has some good width. It can get a bit confusing with the unmarked connecting trails, but the convenient thing about this is the connecting trails will always bring you back to the green trail on the other side of the loop, or toward Douglas Road. If you start from the official trail head by the horse trailer lot, just keep to your right the whole way, and you should be fine. A few side trails bring you away from the main path but back relatively quickly. The water tower is an excellent "halfway" marker, and if you are feeling energetic at that point, you can easily incorporate the northern meadow (blue) trail into this hike for a more bird-active experience. Adds about another half mile or so. Overall, a great local go-to for your work out when you can't make it to Letchworth or the ADK. I also recommend adding a few of the other trails at Mendon Ponds to make a day out of it.

A really pretty hike in a beautiful area. It has a nice mix of meadow, wooded and hilly terrain. It’s pretty well marked and very well maintained, however you do have to make sure to keep one eye out for the green trail markers. I would definitely plan to pack your bug spray, since some of the lower elevation parts of the trail are annoyingly buggy. Overall, it’s definitely one of my favorite trails in the area!

Great trail in my favorite county park. Did the full 5+ mile loop on a sweltering day, moderate was a good rating that day. Several side trails lead off if you want to explore, but it's easy to stay on the green marked main trail.

sweet trail with lots of butterflies and moths. sadly also bugs. alltrails isn't recording properly (bug!), so my distance and time is wildly incorrect. Strava is better.

Great trail, well maintained and blazed. Steep inclines/dips in some areas so wear your good hiking boots. I do this trail once a week, its just lovely!
