Trailhead is on the north side of Pond Rd, between the intersections of Douglas Rd & Pittsford-Mendon Rd. The parking area is small with a Posted Brown Wooden sign "Horse Trailer Parking" or something similar. This is a nice run with a lot of elevation changes, some of the hills are steep and in wet conditions deep lugged trail shoes are recommended. Pay close attention to the green markers as many have gotten lost on this run/hike.

Well marked out and well traveled/ beaten path. Close to roads at times. Plenty of wild life around.

Not a well marked trail. and close to houses and a couple farms. Although there is a abundance of wildlife to be seen.

A very nice trail! Well maintained and easy to tell where the trail is as it is marked consistently with green markers to lead you back to the entrance where you started.
Watch out for the occasional horse poop though!
I was also able to spot 6 Deer in the woods. Thankfully, no bear at all.
Great change in terrain and a good opportunity for trail runners. Overall, very enjoyable trail with decent views.

(P. S.) The waterfall really doesn’t exist.

First time hiking in Mendon Ponds Park, there is a variety of trails to choose from. Choose the East Esker Trail due to being a moderate trail that is dog friendly with hilly terrain. The trail was better than expected, a great workout! Did not see any waterfall, but there was a swamp & a pond. Definitely coming back in the fall time for the foliage!

The only downside was the horse poop in the middle of the trail, but the dog enjoyed smelling it!

Good workout for beginners but no waterfall

Great trail. Nice variety of terrain. Not much wildlife on our day

The trail is really nice with some great views. Have some time on your hands as it takes a good hour or two to complete.

Only bad things that I noticed was the horse poop for one, but I guess that's warranted.

The other thing is that there is no waterfall unless I'm blind. I saw a body of water that was buried behind the trees, but again, no waterfall. Probably should change the description unless I'm wrong.

I did come across some horses, as well as horse shit. However, the trail offered a slightly(matter of opinion) challenging, steady incline, then periodic incline, combined with easy down hill or straight up walking.

Notable, green trail offered multiple bathroom stops.

Also a place to to refill your water.

Great trail! Some nice hills, very pretty. Took under 2 hours to do the 5 miles. I went when there was some snow on the ground, which was very icy underneath on most of the trail, maybe from the xc skis? So just be careful or bring your microspikes!

Great hike with the pup! Just make sure you follow the green markings if you want to stay on East Esker Trail. Lots of chipmunks and saw three whitetails!

Moderately strenuous. Hiking boots is a must as it was muddy in some areas.

The hike is actually closer to 5 miles if you follow the green markers but it was a GREAT hike! My 4 and 7 year olds came along and did amazing! So proud! Will do this one again for sure!

A bit of a challenge in some spots but a nice hike. Many deer sightings along the way today.

Good trail, well marked with some nice meadow views. Occasionally you walk near the road but that's only for a few hundred yards. The trails had some washout down the center but after all the rain we had in the spring it's to be expected. Bugs weren't bad and saw a bunch of people throughout.

The best time to hike in this place is during Fall(October/November). Also, you can spot couple of deer. It takes roughly 2 hours to complete the trail.

Great trail with lots of varying terrain. We ran out of daylight or we would have finished it I would like to go back to complete the trail.

Nice trail -one of my favorites in Mendon. It's got some good ups and downs and is well marked. I did this last week and it definitely had some slick and icy parts in the snow. Some of the trail is ny the road which isn't the nicest but overall it's an enjoyable hike. I saw two deer as well by the water tower. In years past I have cross country skied this trail as well.

Great fairly easy hike if you stick to the main trail. Good combination of wooded and open areas with a good amount of ridge hiking. Only negative is there are a lot of loose stones on the sharper inclines.

I absolutely love this trail. It takes me about two hours to complete when walking at a leisurely pace (total trail length is approximately 4.7 miles). As others have stated, it is very easy to wander off the trail so always keep a look out for green paint markers on the trees. There are also numerous hills and valleys on this trail which makes it interesting. The trail also goes near the road sometimes, which I don't find to be particularly enjoyable when out hiking, but overall a great hike!

Excellent trail for cross country running or a brisk walk. The relative lack of stones and roots on the trail makes it easy for going fast. The trail meanders over and around short hills. Runs along a well travelled road and in sight of houses in a few places but mostly surrounded by pleasant mixed forest dominated by maples which provide cool shade for most of the trail. There are many side trails which make following the route confusing. Look for rectangular green paint blazes on the trees.
