Description
Waypoints (0)

There is a fee of $10 per vehicle. Fees are collected on weekdays between 6/22-9/2. For the rest of the year, fees are only collected on the weekend. Empire Passholders can get in for free. Start at a parking area on US 9W near Jones Point, taking the joint Ramapo-Dunderberg (red) and Timp-Torne Trails (blue) up a fairly steep incline. When the trails split, turn right with the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail, which continues up Dunderberg, with several spots where there are fine views of the Hudson River. After the intersection with the Cornell Mine Trail (blue), stay on the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail, which now climbs Bald Mountain, passing several remnants of the Cornell Mine along the way. There is another marvelous viewpoint at the top of Bald Mountain. The trail then descends. At the intersection with the Timp-Torne Trail, turn onto it, which ascends to the Timp, with great views, particularly of the NY City skyline. Retrace your steps, and stay on the Timp-Torne Trail is it winds its way back to your starting point, passing through more remains of the Dunderberg railway works, and affording some more great views of the Hudson River.

Nice trail. Few trees down and some markers hard to see but overall nice hike. Slight difficulty.

Awesome hike with beautiful views along the way. Some steep climbs at points to keep your workout in check :) My pup Finley absolutely loved that we didn’t see folks for every 20 mins or so so he could to run around of leash for a bit easily.

The trail was amazing. We are fairly new to hiking, but the trail was extremely well marked. Went of course twice, but AllTrails app got us right back on route. The views were incredible.

Stunning calm hike ideal for a clear winter day. Be sure to download the map and follow this route as it leads you by breathtaking views of the Hudson/nyc/etc. as someone who has hiked all over the region,Catskills, adirondacks, etc I must say this is one of the most enjoyable hiking experiences I’ve had!

Wonderful and peaceful few hours walk. Trail was marked very well and views were fairly all the way. I did loose my jacket somewhere though which I had tied back on my backpack.

Great, enjoyable hike! Definitely rigorous. After some rain earlier in the week, the beginning and end of the trail was pretty muddy but doable. As other comments mention, the trail is a mile or two longer than noted.

Note: this is a fairly strenuous hike, don't underestimate it if you haven't done hikes of similar distance/elevation. Pros: - Multiple points with fantastic views, with at least one in each direction. During the winter, you can see the Hudson at least partly from half the trail - Parking was a non issue (though it was a December weekday) - Not crowded (probably partly due to timing) - Trail was mostly well marked Cons: - There were some sharp turns that were VERY poorly marked - There are some fallen trees blocking the trail at various points - It was fairly muddy and there were a few icy parts.

great views perfect for someone looking for tough exertion. Trail is rocky. It took 5 hours to complete this approx 8.5 miles trail. but it was worth it. giew from Mt Pith were amazing. Would definitely do it again in summer when we can stay up for longer time to enjoy views.
