This is like a surprisingly naturish trail in the middle of town. We walked from Court street up to College town to explore. My husband was annoyed by all the steps, but we'd already hiked Buttermilk Falls that day.

This trail is so beautiful and well-maintained. Most of it is a wide, manmade pathway consisting of flat limestone or slate and concrete. The uphills alongside each waterfall are all stairways, also well-maintained. The waterfalls are breathtaking, cascading over beautiful shale ledges at different angles. I hiked it in July, and I imagine it's even more beautiful in the fall. The dogs and I walked to the trailhead from the house, and instead of hiking back on the trail I opted to walk across the Cornell campus and then down the hill to University Avenue. The trail is dog-friendly, but, as with all NY state parks, there are no trash bins provided, and you must pack out your dog's waste, so come prepared. When you complete hiking up the main leg of the trail, you emerge onto the Cornell campus on the edge of town, and Collegetown Bagels offers a convenient spot for lunch. The path continues to the south of the trolley bridge with a gentler grade on a crushed gravel path. Less dramatic scenery here, but a nice opportunity to catch your breath after all the stairways up, up, up.

Love how it’s right in the middle of town. Like a portal to a magical land from a book. With huge looming walls of high rock around us, and a big rain the night before causing lots of dramatic rushing water, it was quite dramatic and impressive to all the ages of our group, and the walk was easy enough for the 6 year old (be sure to keep an eye on children though, since the path is right up to the waterfalls, especially with more rain! It can be dangerous).

This was smack dab in the middle of Cornell University! A wonderful surprise. As unfit as I was, it really seemed more like an easy walk than a moderate trail. Shorter than expected, but picturesque around every turn. Students use the trail to go to and from class and you can see locals sitting alongside the creek, dipping their feet in the shallows. There’s more space for parking up top in/beside the University than at the bottom of the trail where there is only street parking at the bottom of a steep hill. I highly recommend this walk!

I enjoyed walking up the 460 steps so much, I did it twice. This trail is an absolute gem. It's great that it's a developed trail in the town. What a great trail and so pretty!

I hike this trail during my lunch break at Cornell all the time (when in season). Once you are in the gorge, you would never know you’re in the middle of the city. It is beautiful and serene.

Trail head sign states trail is closed for winter with a large iron gate to block any entrance. If/When the trail reopens, it is all stair climbing. Great views of the gorge and waterfalls throughout!

Nice short trail. I would highly recommend this quick trail if you are in Ithaca. There is really only one steel section and the trail is very well maintained and seems to have been recently renovated. Beautiful area right bear Cornell. I would rate this more on the easy side versus moderate.

The hardest part about getting to this trail is finding parking. We found plenty of parking on Farm Street and walked about 5 min. to get to the starting point. Beautiful falls with lots of photography opportunities. A shout out to the person who was patrolling the streambed to gently encourage law breakers to get out of the water as several people where attempting to get into the water regardless of all the 'no swimming' signage. Was neat to see all the college kids streaming along the trail and taking advantage of this part of Cornell University.

While visiting my cousin in Ithaca she took me on this awesome trail. we parked at the top and hiked down. At the bottom we stopped in town shopped a little bit and had a beer before heading backup to the top. Water level is a bit lower than normal for this time of year. Awesome views nice clear path/steps you don't constantly have to stare at your feet to make sure you're not gonna trip over roots etc.

I hiked Cascadilla Falls after three days of heavy rain and the water was nearly overflowing its banks. Despite the heavy flow of water and the raging torrent, the trail felt sturdy and safe.

Waterfall at the trail head is beautiful, however the gorge trail is closed for the winter.
