Went for sun set. View was very nice. The shelving rock road gate was open. Trail is dry and free of ice
Pretty regular hike most of the way, then started to get steeper and follows a small creek up to the top. Some ice around the creek, but easy to find footing (no micro spikes). The view at the summit was great.
Good hike. The trail was broken but still needed some snowshoe TLC. The views at the top are amazing but this day the wind made it very cold. Note: My trail on the map is just the downhill. Apparently I didn't start it when I started.
Surprisingly not as windy as predicted. Summit had a beautiful clear views today! Tongue range tomorrow to finish the 12ster!
great condition very easy to follow, fantastic views to the southwest and the whole tongue mountain range
Trail conditions were dust on crust (trace to 1” snow) with icy sections on top. I wore microspikes the entire way and highly recommend. Multiple stream crossings that were easily navigated. Surprisingly I didn’t see one person today—even on top where multiple trails merge. Great hike!
The trail was muddy today and it was snowing lightly....as to be expected this time of year. Make sure you wear some waterproof shoes. No visibility at the top, but it's usually awesome. We took my older golden retriever and my blind australian shepherd. This is their first of the 9 ADK K9 challenge.....they made the hike slower, but they loved every second :)
