Some roots and rocks and then a kind of steep climb. A good little cardio workout. The view is breathtaking. A little much for a little kid, but good for older kids.

Easy to start, but then definitely all up hill with multiple steep and rocky parts. The views were well worth the 1.5 hrs up and 1.5 hrs back!! Bring enough water and bug spray! Well marked trails..follow the yellow markers!

Good trail. A little mud but not bad considering all the rain two days ago. Lots of little red newt friends along the way.

Great out and back. Very dry, 5 of 7 spots I assume are water crossings of 3’ or more are bone dry. Some bugs, bug spray helped. Great views at peak!

Good day to hike Buck with Samson for the first hike towards the ADK-9 patch. Parking lots were full (we got one of the last spots in the bigger lot) by 10AM. When we got back to the car around 1PM there was a line of cars waiting to park (12 or so) and a Ranger making sure no one parked on the side of the road. Kinda chaotic but whatever. Despite the abundance of vehicles, we didn’t run into many people while hiking. Yes, there was a bunch of groups at the top, but our time actually hiking the trail was quite nice. Hot day with beautiful views of Lake George down below.

at times steep but doable for my 42 year old mother, we only had to rest a few times. it took us 2 hours 45 minutes altogether. pretty view of the lake but not a 360 view. it was foggy so I'm sure it's normally prettier. bugs spray helped overall good hike

For some reason I thought that my 2 7 year olds and 5 year old kids could hike this mountain no problem. Well let me tell you, they did such an awesome job for never hiking a mountain before!! It was slow paced because of the 5 year old on the decent but they ascended with little-to-no complaint. There were quite a few places where I had to stop and really look for the trail markers but they are EVERYWHERE on the trail so it is not hard follow the little. lue markers. The views from the top are gorgeous! The only thing I recommend is bringing plenty of water, as there is nowhere to pump from streams or anything and we ran out just at the beginning of our decent (all 3 kids plus myself and my boyfriend each had a 32oz bottle of water to ourselves) and dont forget the bug spray as it got quite buggy for us. What a trip well worth it and I couldn't be more proud of my kids!

Really regret forgetting my bug spray. Good, reasonably challenging trail with an insanely gorgeous view at the summit, definitely give yourself time to hang out there! But man, do not forget your bug spray.
