The path is situated between bay & wetlands along the high-tide line. You can get to the middle of nowhere just a few steps from your car. At the "trailhead", there's room for parking over a dozen vehicles off the road, and a tiny beach if you want to linger. Deserted off-season, this special, fragile place is lightly trafficked and fairly private. At high tide, you cannot deviate far from the path (unless you don’t mind your feet getting wet) - bay on one side, wetlands on the other. And maybe that illustrates the prime issue - salt water intrusion from rising sea levels - dead trees are starting to make their appearance. There’s not much "scenery" here - only the interplay of water, sand, grass, light …… and a very big sky - magnificent under the right weather conditions. Pay a visit to the slaves burial ground 3/4 of a mile down the road to the south west. Make a day of it and check out Orient Village.
