This is the second-shortest loop involving the rocky ascent of Breakneck Ridge from NY Rte 9D. After scrambling up 3 peaks on the Breakneck Ridge Trail, you make a short descent, near the bottom of which you turn right onto the Undercliff Trail (yellow). Note that this trail has been made vastly safer over the last 3 years, with the addition of numerous stone steps to help keep your descent under control. When you reach the intersection with the green-blazed trail, bear right onto it. In a few minutes you will cross Breakneck Brook on a bridge. Immediately after this, you turn right onto the Brook Trail (red), which ends at Rte 9D about 1/4 mile south of the Breakneck tunnel.
