Bowdoin Park Loop is a 1.7 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Wappingers Falls, New York that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This is a nice park for hiking or picnicking, with pretty views of the river. This trail does not meet enough of the guidelines that AllTrails uses to tag wheelchair and stroller friendly trails. The slope (over 12% in multiple places) is estimated to be very steep and the surface, too uneven. Some mobility equipment users may be able to do sections of it.
The trails are in good condition and not too busy this late in the season. The main problem is that it's difficult to cover more than ~3 miles without having to re-do trails. It's a nice park for an easy family hike, but you're not going to have much luck turning it into anything more ambitious than that.
A lot of fun, short trail, but shady. Some places more overgrown than others. Not the best for biking, but then again, I'm 20 years rusty and on a bike older than that.
An okay-but-not-great trail. Shady and buggy. The river views were distant but not spectacular. (A big pond with overgrown vegetation dominated the foreground.) Trailhead was a bit hard to find due to lack of signage. It was a very hot day, and we had the trail to ourselves. The bugs were persistent.
Great trail for those wanting to get into trail running. Experience all running conditions: mud, gravel, root dodging, grassy hills, and pavement. It’s got some good hills to practice sprinting up or running/ jumping over rocks and roots on the way down. Did it after a workout at my gym. Made me realize that running around the track will no longer cut it. Great views of the river too - if you aren’t bothered by bugs. Mostly shaded. However for hikers I would not recommend this full trial for those in wheelchairs or strollers. Someone has tagged that before - once you enter the woods section there are too many ruts, rocks, and roots for wheelchairs and strollers. However the rest of the park is accessible and along the river so definitely have a picnic and hang out!
