Bloomingdale Brook Waterfall Trail is a 1.2 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Troy, New York that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This trail is in the NORTHERN set of trails behind WMHT (it is unrelated to the Waterfall Spur Trail also in this park). This trail area traverses a set of cascades and small waterfalls, along with a beautiful 10 foot waterfall. The trail is a loop with significant inclines and declines along with two water crossings which can prove difficult in high water. Much wildlife is in the area including chipmunks, squirrels, and white tailed deer. The loop is well marked with "Red" discs.

The stream can be difficult to cross at the bottom; as of May 2018 there is a fallen tree BLOCKING the stepping stones across the stream; due to the ravines carved by the water thru the years, it is VERY steep up the walls of the ravine and can be extremely difficult to circumnavigate at that point.
Take I90 to Route 4 (Exit 9) Take Route 4 toward Troy, and the Rensselaer Tech Park (Jordan Road) is on the left. Follow all the way to the end at the circle in front of WMHT Take a left, and parking will be on the right. Follow the mowed grass to the trailhead at the end of the field.
The grass by the parking are was a little wet and muddy but easily avoidable. The trail was dry and a great walk as always.
Great little trail through the woods with several waterfalls along the route.
Fairly easy with a couple steeper pitches to hike up. Rocks a little slippery with the snow melting.
Trail made for a nice walk through the woods. Definitely lightly trafficked, as it was a beautiful day and not too many people there. There are several waterfalls of varying sizes. Planning on going back in the Spring when water levels are higher. There were definitely a few spots that looked like there should be water but it was dry.
Definitely moderate, decent inclines and steep drops. If bringing kids, keep them close. We parked at WMHT and picked up the red trail there. Nice loop, took about 30 minutes once we were at the right spot. Initially parked at the children’s museum and followed a different, very overgrown piece of the trail. Had to backtrack and get in the car to go to WHMT.
It would have been way better if there was water there but still worth a trip!
