This loop goes through pine forest, cedar swamps, and oak forest. I hiked here right after a controlled burn but it is still a pretty walk worth doing. To make a loop, you either have to cross a very clear steam or walk over a drainage about 20 feet down the parkway embankment.

The trail was relatively easy to follow until the descent from Big Indian towards Fir. The wind and snow created drifts making the trail He’d to find in several places. The same thing happened on the way down from Fir. Wore Snowshoes the entire trek. It’s a really nice trail.

Trench present all the way from lot to Fir, to Big Indian and back to lot. Lots of whipper branches so be prepared. Trench is pretty solid but sloppy in some areas due to bare booters. If you’re using All Trails to record, you will show you’re “off route” a few times because the trench doesn’t exactly follow the AllTrails route but it goes and gets you from point A to point B. Beautiful day.

Easy to follow the somewhat packed trail through the snow. Did Fir which was not hard, but the packed snow trail petered out once on the top of fir and didn't feel like trecking through 12 inches of snow to make it over to Big Indian, so just turned around and went back down

Went up towards Big Indian and bushwhacked to South Double Top. The bushwhack was brutal; dense vegitation and a steep final assault - snow shoes required. Hated it honestly, but the plane crash was a cool find and made up for some of the suck. When I eventually got back to the trail I was too tired to go find indian and fir, I descended.

Tries to follow the YMCA boundary but got turned around a bit. There were several inches of snow at the higher elevation that made it tougher. Finally decided to find the trail and try again another day.

Great trail - lots of variety. Path to Fir is getting pretty worn in and other than a few sections it is very easy to follow.

Trail to Big Indian was fine, no views, but none were expected. Herd path to Fir was easily lost, and I was frequently bushwhacking for real. Come down from Fir was worse, I eventually just stopped trying to find trail and made my way down, 9.5 hour round trip with 30 pound pack.

Went up Big Indian first with easy blue blazes to follow. Got lost on bushwhack to Fir and had to call Rangers for a rescue. Fir was overgrown and very difficult to find path. Didn't see any other hikers during the day.
