Easy 0.8 mile RT hike on a wide access road to a firetower with a nice view. At 1840 feet, Belfry Mountain is a short hike (0.35 miles) to a summit of only 1840 feet but it offers a great view. The trail consists of a service road that is used for the communications tower at the top and the firetower.

Took maybe 5 minutes to “climb”. Pretty views though, and comfortable seat for a snack.

Very short. Only view is from the fire tower. I wouldn’t classify as a hike.

No place to park in the winter unfortunately so if someone can drop you off at the trailhead that would be best. We broke trail of a foot of fresh snow from last night but the bang for buck views are amazing! Snowshoes recommended for the depth.

Basically a gravel road to the fire tower. You won’t be coming here to escape civilization. Would be good first hime with kids. Has a secondary pathway half way up that I was hoping would lead to an additional vantage point, but only led to the cell phone tower. Dog stirred up a ground hornet nest in a downed log by the tower. We made a run for it and then got the stingers out and he was no worse for wear. Would not recommend solo with a dog, my dog at least, prevents you from climbing the fire tower for the primary view because he is a little on the nervous side and tough to carry at 75lbs.

This is the last one needed for my Adk firetower challenge in the Adk’s ( still have 3 to do in the Catskills ) . My brother and I did Hurricane and added this because it’s close . It was 13 minutes round trip . Pretty view from the tower and great wildflowers ..

As I am currently attempting to complete the ADK/Catskills Firetower Challenge, I found this great to knock out! Easy 10 min walk to firetower and great 360 degree view. The trail is basically a dirt road. I wouldn't recommend going out of one's way to do this but if you are in area, check it out.

The payoff to work ratio on this one is very high! An easy one to check off for the Fire Tower Challenge. Don't go out of your way, but if you're in the area the view is worth it.

Simple hike for spectacular views! Family friendly and fairly easy to do. Paired this with Roaring Brook Falls (base hike) in Keene with family.

Very, very, very easy - made it up in 10 minutes with a poky 6 year old. The views are gorgeous, but the hike itself leaves a lot to be desired - most of it is on an access road, and there’s not much to see. Very loud crows, though!

Truly the best bang for your buck in the Adirondacks! We arrived around 9:45am on a Thursday and were the only car in the tiny parking area across the street from the trailhead. No one else on the trail either. We dutifully signed in at the trailhead log - you never know, I guess! It took 9 minutes to reach the summit along the gravel path, and that included stopping to take photos. The clouds from the overnight rain and morning fog were just starting to burn off, so we could see most but not all of the normally visible High Peaks. What a sight to behold. I've never hiked this far north and have never been treated to such amazing views of the High Peaks before. We spent over 10 minutes at the top of the fire tower taking photos and enjoying the views in every direction before we headed back to the car. Overall, 30 minutes, terrible bugs, easy trail - I would definitely go back to take kids or older folks who want incredible views without all the work of hiking.

This is a nice walk more than a hike to introduce someone into hiking. There’s little effort for this firetower but you receive nice views of the great range and the mountains in Vermont.

For a short hike and not much elevation I wasn’t expecting good the views from the top but it was absolutely gorgeous!

Not much to say. It’s a fire tower in the challenge. Quick and easy. Nice view from the top. Black flies made loitering at the summit unbearable. Much less buggy on the tower.

Nice walk to the fire tower on a nice warm day. Passing a communication tower on the right, continue to the fire tower straight ahead. For a short hike/walk, well worth the nice views at the top.

Tower is good for High Peaks view but there are better towers in the area.

Got to Belfry Mt early on 9/22/2018 as the first of a 4 firetower day. I made sure to get up extra early so I could catch the sunrise over Lake Champlain into Vermont. The trail follows a service road up to the tower. Before the summit is a short road off to the right that goes to a cell tower... that's not it. I kept following the road to a little shack, also on the right, and still didn't see the firetower. The road turned grassy and overgrown, but then, right after the shack was the firetower. For such a short hike, the views over to Vermont at sunrise were beautiful and my 3:00am wake-up time paid off big time to enjoy it. The whole hike up and back was only 25 minutes, and that's with time enjoying the sunrise and taking some pictures. The firetower cab is accessible also. Well worth the short hike up and easy enough for anyone to do...so go check it out!

This is a nice firetower to bring people to who are not hikers but with whom you would still like to share a firetower.

Not really a hike. But it’s a great half mile walk up a gravel road to the tower. And the view from the fire tower is awesome! Great vistas of Lake Champlain and the green mountains to the east, and the Adirondacks to the west. Must be beautiful in the height of autumn ... well worth the trouble to seek out and hike. Speaking of seeking out, best directions are this. From the Tracey road, turn left onto dalton hill road. Go one mile. Parking is on the right, trailhead on the left. Enjoy the easiest fire tower peak in the fire tower challenge!

This is not a hike. This is a short walk on a gravel road to the fire tower. The views from the tower are nice, and this is the easiest fire tower of the challenge. Also, there are three geodetic trail markers on the "summit" to look for. My daughter loves finding them. If you plan on coming here, pair this location with another hike, especially if traveling.

A quick and easy walk that got me closer to finishing the fire tower challenge. I paired this hike with Hurricane and did both in 1 day.
