A little different than what everyone else does. We started near 7 Lakes drive on the south side of the mountain. Hiked the 1777W to the SBM trail which took us to the popular area near Bear Mountain Inn and Hessian Lake where most people start. Then we to Major Welch trail up the side of Bear Mountain to the top - interesting trail as you start on pavement and end on a accessible trail. In between is the usual rocky trail, steps, and a steep rock-face. After lunch at the top and checking out Perkins tower and the views we took the Blue AT shortcut down to the south bound section of the AT, checked out another great view to the west on an open rock area before heading to the bottom where we picked up 1777W back to the cars.
