Microspikes strongly recommended for winter hiking. This trail is fairly smooth with mild gradients, except for the upper part where is becomes much steeper with rocks and some easier scrambling. There are many side trails that branch off at that point and the main trail can be less obvious, so make sure you follow the blue trail markers. The views are great and once you reach the first views it looks like you are at the top, but keep going as the summit is further past that and even better views await.

This trail is an easy to moderate hike...the trek starts out with a gradual incline and continues as such for about a mile...the trail is well marked for the beginning half of the 1.5 mile hike to the summit.... however, the trail markings become more obscure for the second half of the hike which becomes slightly more treacherous and icy (in the winter)...there are several very nice view points along the way...the 2400+ ft summit provides awesome views of the Great Range and the village of Keene...microspikes are recommended for winter hikes.

HikingGreat!Snow

Fairly easy hike with great views! Several lookouts on the way up. Nothing technical. Had microspikes, but were not needed (12/23/20). Trail has been well-traveled. Went on a Wednesday afternoon in December and passed several groups! Roadside parking. A great hike for a beginner!

Hiked on 12/15/20. really nice easy trail with good views about a mile in before the summit. Summit itself is nothing too special. Icy in spots but nothing crazy. took about an hour round trip.

Muddy and slippery but overall not too bad. Little patches of ice but never needed to pull out my spikes. Decent views. Nice quick hike

33 degrees, overcast and beautiful. The trail is well marked, and maintained perfect short hike with our 22 month old in the frame pack. Would definitely recommend footwear for ice conditions as the summit becomes steep, rocky and slippery in places.

HikingGreat!

Parking for the trailhead is really right on the shoulder of the road. Be careful getting out/geared up. Gentle incline for about a mile, then the grade steepens. Stepping up into ledges and boulders a bit but nothing serious. Easy for my 55# medium sized dog. Adam did well with his knee-brace and newly-healed bones. Great lookouts - views of Noonmark, Big Slide, Marcy etc. - ledges face south and East. Might be a good sunrise hike.
