HikingPrivate property

Wear good shoes bc it’s a steep decline at start. Went down and then turned left until private property and then went back and turned right till private property. Falls were small but flowing. It was not the same as the picture on this listing currently. Steep uphill back was a nice workout. Very short hike and not marked well at the start.

Love the new parking lot around the corner right by the main trail. There is also a new better trail to the falls that it’s lovely.

Hiking

Mostly easy, quick hike, along the Poestenkil, with plenty of shade. You start and end with a steep hill that is manageable. Nearly the entire trail is along the creek, with several spots where you can get to the water's edge and some spots where you can go for a dip. Not very buggy, despite being a hot, humid summer day. A couple of downed trees, but nothing that will give you trouble. You can also access the Barberville Ridge Trail from here, it is a half-mile walk along a highway with very little shoulder. It is recommended you drive to that trailhead. It is worth the effort.

Nice hike to the Falls which are worth the steep walk down. I felt it was easier coming up the hill. .9 miles walking from the street lot to the base of the Falls. Close to Albany and we only encountered 2 other people on the actual trail.

Hiked it this morning with my mom. Very steep and rocky but deff worth the view. The trail seems a little washed out but the rocks make good places to step on for the steep walk down and up. There’s also this look out at the top of the falls that gives a good view. Only downfall is a short walk on the road to get to the trail from the parking lot.

The waterfall is gorgeous however it’s a super short hike down the hill to view the falls then back up- id say the hill is .5 miles if that. Apparently there is another trail you can walk down from where the little parking area is, we never saw that. We first went to the private property side- didn’t even realize that it was private but the view was beautiful from there once we saw the sign we scooted back out to the road and tried to find the actual entry. It’s down past the parking area and near the bridge at the top of the falls/ take a left there and a quick left to get to the mini trail to go to the bottom of the falls. Gorgeous but nothing extravagant. It’s super quick.

Wow - what a beautiful spot! The views are amazing. Worth the walk to the bottom - but if your not in minimal shape you may want to skip it b/c going back up is steep. It’s little muddy right now - so hiking shoes are helpful. Definitely check it out!

Finding this local gem was great. It should be noted that this trail doesnt go to the falls. The trail map indicates that the trail continues to the right but that is private property. The trail starts right in front of the small lot, goes down a steep hill and then you follow the Poestenkill to the left. You can climb down to some mini falls along the Kill as you go, its a nice little jaunt. If you want to go to the actual falls you have to walk the road a quarter mile down the road to the right of the lot and take a left at the first road and it brings you to that trailhead. There is a third trail just beyond the Falls trail head that is 2 miles but we skipped that one but its listed in AllTrails. The Falls trail itself (not the one on the map) is pretty short, you start at the top of the falls with some very nice views and then there is a very short hike down to the base of the falls for a different view. Parking is also VERY limited. You can fit maybe 7 cars in the lot and there are all sorts of signs telling you to not park on the road. It was full at 3pm on a Monday and I waited for someone to leave. You can roll the dice on parking on the road but thats a risk.

Be sure to arrive early, the little dirt lot is the only place you can park and fills quickly. This spot also is the place to park for the ridge trail. The app shows that you can walk to the base of the falls on this trail, but that is not the case. Most of the trail heading towards the falls is private property. You have to walk on the main road to and over the bridge to the falls trail head. You can see the waterfall here and if you so choose, walk down a relatively muddy, rocky, steep hill to the base of it. May be short but the incline back up makes up for it as well as the sight of the waterfall

Amazing find. Rocky, but rather that than muddy for traction. We did the falls trail and it was worth it. Highly recommend

The trail is a little tricky to find. Park at the trailhead andwalk down the road and over the bridge. The trail is relatively steep but worth the climb down. The falls are quite spectacular and particularly so because of all the recent rain. Well worth the trip.

Really beautiful waterfall! The trails aren't much. You're supposed to walk a bit on a road to get to the trail to avoid private property, which is kinda a bummer. But, I'm glad I went.

Great trails. The creek trail was wide and clearly marked. The falls trail down to the base of the falls was a little rockier and icy but still an easy trip. The falls were beautiful. I should note that the falls trail is located .3 miles down a pretty busy road so keep hold of your kids and dogs.

My map has includes both the creek trail and the ridge trail. Always a pretty little hike! Also one of the less buggy hikes in the area this time of year.
