Took the manorville hills orange trail at the manorville hills county park to the paumanok path east and was picked up on rt 51. This was a hot day challenge I gave my self. So july , weather is hot and steamy but got a good early start and it was in the mid 70’s at the set out. Trail really starts after the white pine grove and I followed the orange trail and about 3.5 miles in i hit the paunamok path. Trails can be confusing as there are many intersecting trails and also the bike(blue) trail shares some points on the trail. This hike was not so easy with many large hills and elevation changes. The mosquito’s were miserable and the spider webs were basically every step of the path. Ticks were less then expected. Some points on the white/ Paumanok path were over grown with high grass. But most of the trail was well maintained. This would work out for a nice fall day or even a winter hike. Not sn easy stroll..

This trail is marked as easy, but I'd say this is a bit more challenging than a lot of trails in the area. Expect a lot of hills, with decent inclines. It does lead to some absolutely beautiful views, though. Highly recommend! Be sure to look for vernal pools in the Spring - they look like large puddles on the trail. They're an important breeding habitat for amphibians. Peer in and see if you can spot some white-ish egg masses.

Great work out. Mix of challenging mountain biking and steep inclines to switch between riding and walking.

Beautiful trail that showcases perhaps Long Island’s most rugged terrain. Easy to forget that you’re still on Long Island. Bald hill provides you with a great view of the Peconic bay. However the trail becomes less abundantly marked as you approach bald hill from Manorville hills county park, and back towards Manorville hills county park. The All trails app saved me a few times when I made a wrong turn off of the Paumanok path.

This was a nice semi-challenging hike, especially by Long Island standards. I would’ve rated it higher if it weren’t for the constant, non-stop gunshots in the distance, which was a bit disconcerting. I assume there’s a gun range nearby hence the sound, but not necessarily the most peaceful hike because of it.

Trail is poorly marked, if marked at all. Very easy to get lost. Parts are overgrown with unidentified trails intersecting with it. Bring your smart phone and AllTrails app.

This is a beautiful trail, well marked and well maintained. This is an easy trail, and I'd do it again.
