Description
Waypoints (3)

The entrance to the parking area is VERY easy to miss, so drive slowly as you get close. Mostly easy trail, although the first half-mile is a little steep. The trail is wide, easy to follow, and marked by green tree discs; although very rocky with lots of tree roots. At 1.1 miles the trail merges with the Ridge Run Trail coming in from the right marked by pink/red trail marker discs; follow the trail to the left. At 1.4 miles you’ll reach an open ledge on the left that overlooks Moreau Lake, and has views east to Vermont.

Pretty, easy hike with a nice payoff! Had spikes but probably would have been fine without. Took the green trail up to the pink / ridge trail to an overlook - all were well marked. Lots to explore here! Parking is a little messy in the snow right now.

Gorgeous day but icy and snowy so wear your micro spikes.

Nice walk in the woods along a ridge to an overlook with great views to the east. The parking area is close to the top of the ridge, so there isn’t much elevation gain. There are lots of intersecting trails, so watch yourself at intersections. This area is also open to hunting, so wear orange or another bright color if hiking in the fall.

Beautiful! I went up green and down yellow. Some rock scramble on yellow. Easy to high moderate on yellow. Leaves off the trails now; well marked. Lots all very full at noon, empty by 4 pm.

The viewpoint was beautiful!! We ended up starting on the wrong trial and did a mix of the Ridge Run trail and the one for Moreau lake overlook. We went with our Lake George group and one guy didn’t have shoes, which was difficult because this was VERY steep especially in some areas. There is a large parking lot that was packed in Labor Day weekend (not surprised) but the trail wasn’t too trafficked. Overall, would recommend!

Lots of leaf cover on the trail (not surprising) so coming down was a little tricky but I don’t like downhill in general Enjoyable hike-come early!

See recording for nice loop with overlook view relatively early (when going clockwise) and beautiful forest with some partial views later. Follow green-pink-yellow markers.

You have to cross the parking lot to get to the trail, it doesn't connect to the ones that go around the lakes. Good trail, well worth the view.

HikingGreat!

very pleasant hike. definitely some moderately challenging steep parts but enough variation to allow for cooling down on a flatter part. the view is worth it. be aware on the way back down there are *2* red marked trails down, take the one to the right. i didn’t even realize there were two and ended up going at least half a mile down the left red trail before realizing i must have missed the merge with the green baker trail. i had just enough reception to see i was wayyyy off the trail on the map so i backtracked to the lookout and took the correct red trail. just a lil extra workout!

STAY ON THE TRAIL. Some very kind people tried to moved to the side with their dog to let us pass, but stepped on a bees nest. Everyone got caught up in the swarm. Otherwise, it was a great hike, and a great trail.

Fun run up and down with the pup. Went down the blue trail from the summit for about a half mile - to steep and rocky to run, but nice. Only one tree across that we had to climb around.

Trailhead parking lot is easy to miss, sign is obscured by growth. Thank you, Google Maps. We hiked 2.9 mile loop as follows Baker (green) trail Ridge Run (red) Moreau Overlook (light blue) rocky and steep Turkey Path (white) - easy to miss turn Western Ridge (yellow) Trails are in good condition with plenty of blazers. Moreau Lake is a great hiking spot within an hour drive of Albany.

great place for a hike, lots of bugs though. one thing; none of the trails that cross Grant mt. are dog friendly including this one, as it connects directly with all the other trails that are listed as dogs only on leash. IT'S A STATE PARK.
