Archer Vally is a conservation Easement land managed by the NY Department of Environmental Conservation. The loop around the lake is on old logging roads that can sometimes be muddy. Hunting is allowed in season and in the winter, the trail is used as a snowmobile trail, but snowshoeing and cross country skiing are permitted. The pond is accessible by a car top boat launch adjacent to the parking area. There is a handicapped accessible outhouse near the parking lot and trail register.

Beautiful hidden gem. Campsites are all very nice but you have to walk the trail to get to them. There is a toilet at the first spot. Not great for swimming (murky) but I would highly recommend for fishing. Very peaceful.

The supposed 1.7 mile loop is non-existent. If you decide to walk the logging roads that almost connect, it is much farther than 1.7 miles. If you decide to walk the trail on the north side of the lake, it is about 1 mile to the bridge that crosses the feeder Creek.

Sorry Nathan, I got this location confused with another one when I did the write-up. You're right, the trail doesn't go all the way around the Vly. If I remember, there is also a small swampy area at the north end of the pond that you have to by-pass to get to the other trail.

Very nice views of the water. Seems like a nice place to go kayaking. However be advised that this is not a loop trail. The marked trail ends at the last campsite on each side. I ended up walking along my own loop trail to the other side of the path.

A very beautiful walk here at mid-day. The trail around the pond was in fine shape and the fall woods were great. The view from the outlet dam was spectacular.
