Beautiful views about 2.8 miles into the trail. Didn't get to finish the whole trail. About 3 miles into the trail, spotted a black bear sleeping. Other hikers passing by also passed this same bear multiple times- I was surprised the footsteps didn't wake him. Also saw a porcupine and many pretty flowers - so many strawberry bushes but they had just begun flowering - no fruit yet . The dirt path paving the trail was just a tad rocky so my ankles were a little sore after.

Great terrain, wildlife, and plant life. Some great views of greenwood lake.

Just how I remember it ten years ago!

8.5m/3h50. Hiked early last sat. Busy inc. groups on the way back. Easy to go off trail in a few spots.

Still open. Parking lot at trailhead was empty when I got there at noon with few people on trail. It got much busier afternoon - full parking lot at 4:30 pm. Everyone is extra considerate, though.

Absolutely gorgeous. The overview of the lake and forests is a beautiful view and the trail is well kept.

Micro-spikes were very helpful, as snow was packed down and frozen into ice. Nice hike, saw 4 or 5 people out with dogs, most weren’t leashed. Lovely views.

Great hike along Greenwood Lake. The trail can be slick on the ridge if there’s snow-cover; crossings can be icy from previously melted snow (bring micro spikes just-in-case). Good views of the lake throughout the trail and decent for a day hike.

Out and back, had a great time! Not a difficult trail at all, left Queens at around 11 and did the hike with plenty of time before sundown, of course this was in in August. Also, really cool to come across hikers doing the AT. They have an aura around them, and even when they're warning you about snakes you don't want to stop them for too long. It's clear they had done a lot of miles that day, with more ahead of them, it's written on the grime on their face. Finally, there is an ice cream shop right by the start, it's delicious. Bellvale creamery I think it's called.
