excellent hike. challenging in spots but nothing too hard. the trail is very popular and the peak was crowded when we arrived. beautiful views that you miss if you take the shorter trail up. parking was tight due to the volume of hikers but the parking area is large. 4 stars as I like a hike with less people. it was definitely crowded.. overall though great day hike!

Walked up to Anthony's nose, then walked down and across the bridge and walked up the major Welch trail at bear mountain. climbed down the same trail in the dark with flashlights, walked back across the bridge to the car. No single part was that hard but all together it was pretty tiring.
Next time I'm going to do bear mountain to west mountain in one shot.

Not quite a hike, but it's a gorgeous walk up to the top for a great view of Bear Mt Bridge and the state park.
