We paddled for a couple of hours from the Friends Boat Launch just outside of the Quaker entrance to Allegany State Park. Just down stream of the Quaker Lake Dam it is a very nice paddle. Out on the reservoir it is pleasant and scenic, but wide open paddling. You should have comfort with paddling in a variety of conditions.
