HikingGreat!

Beautiful hike with very interesting terrain. Some sections can get quite steep so make sure you have shoes with good traction! Overall the trail was pretty well-maintained, but some of the loops that bring you closer to the lake had many fallen trees across them. Would definitely recommend this park!

Really great moderate hike. The trail was well marked and the views along the bay were pretty. The trail wasn’t very crowded either.

Nice moderate hike. Well marked with good elevation changes. Not too crowded. The only downside was the party house with loud booming music at the far end of the trail. That took it down a notch or two.

Such a gem! Right in the middle on Penfield/Webster and it has everything! Nice inclines, gorgeous wooden scenery. Was one of my first hikes.. and even the longer or more popular trails can’t compete. So wonderful to come out after work and spend a few hours. Many side trails to keep you going for a long time

Great hike - steeper and buggier in several areas than I expected. Some muddy patches but easy to step around them. It would have been nice to be a loop as the walk back was exhausting in the humidity! Definitely got a workout.

Beautiful but so so buggy. Even high end (and low end) bug spray didn’t keep the mosquitos away.

I took the White trail all the way out, and then added on the Red loop on my way back. This was exactly what I wanted in a hike. A lot of varied terrain with almost constant ups and downs. I want to improve my ability to climb high elevations, so this was great practice! If you are a novice, this trail will probably seem more Hard than Moderate. Bring water! At the end of the White trail, you will come right down to the edge of the Bay, where there is a cabin, dock and seating area. I understand that the cabin can be rented, but it seemed unoccupied when I got there so I did not feel strange about hanging around. I highly recommend taking the Red loop as well. It offers a very lovely view of the water from a higher elevation. For the most part, the trail was marked very well. On the Red trail, we got a little bit mixed up - if you find yourself in grasses taller than your head, you have probably taken a wrong turn! The actual trail is wide and well packed at most parts. There are some ankle-twisters and the trail is probably very muddy after a rainfall. It is also very secluded. I did not run into another party during my hike, which took about 2 hrs 15 min with a good amount of breaks. Overall, this is a gem and I highly recommend it!

The humidity kicked my butt. Would like to try again in the fall. Some of the white trail looks like the set of Jurassic Park.

Some steep sections that made the hike interesting. I could see it being rough going right after a rainy day. Very buggy, and even with bug spray on I was getting pestered by bugs. I didn’t get bit, but there was a very persistent mosquito that followed me the whole time. The trail is not at all well marked toward the end. I went off trail accidentally a few times.

Good exercise, two great views on water front side, would not go if it’s raining or has been raining. Would be very hard with mud on inclines and declines. Overall recommend!

Excellent trail being so close to the city. Coniferous forest, to marshland, to deciduous forest. Be ready for a workout and you may want to bring a machete to cut back some of the growth near the end of the trail by the bay.
